A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Well, I jumped out of my 240sx about a year ago...itching to get back into a Nissan.

I have my eye on an '04 Sentra SE-R SpecV, pretty much in stock condition. I am not too familiar with the QR25, or this chassis at all (I had my head in KA's and SR's).

How are these cars for daily driving? They suspension/gearbox look like a tonne of fun on the back roads, but I don't know how it would be for a DD. Any known issues with this generation of Sentras? I'm looking to close the deal on one quick, just thought I'd ask the guys who drive/mod it everyday first.

Thanks

Hey man, they've not bad dailys at all. The guy I ride to work with has one thats pretty much stock (has an intake) and it does fine on the 40 mile 1 way ride.

Cons:
Needs a header - get the stock manifold off of there so the pre-cat doesn't come apart, with that off, engine will last a long time.
Butterfly Screws - Make sure you loc-tite the butterfly screws in the intake manifold, they've been known to come out, it's an easy fix though, just pop the upper mani off
Crank Sensor - Make sure the service bulletin has been done, these like to die @ the worst times. You'll know if it's been done if you pop the sensor out and it's metal, not plastic.
91-93 Octane - They lose their peppyness without it.

Pros:
Fun little car, and you're right about being fun on back roads, close gear ratio makes it fun.
HLSD - Not a 1 tire fire.
Potential for modding is there if you ever decide to retire it from being a DD
4 adults fit, don't try 5, we tried that going though DC, never again lol
TQ, plenty of usable power for merging, don't have to wait for vtak.
Gas milage - Pretty good MPG if you can keep it in 6th cruising.
It's a chain motor - no need to worry about timing belts.

I know it's not the best car in the world but I do love mine, it's different and you can go out for a week and not see another one on the road.

If you want to mod it at all, I/H/E/Tein S Tech Springs are the way to go, I had them on my car before I had a DD, slight drop gets rid of 4x4 status, while maintaining a nice ride quality.

Anything else you want to know about them please ask!

Thanks, I am going to go check with the previous owner if he had any problems with the pre-cat or the butterfly valves. Found a pretty good writeup about it here:

The car has about 135K on it, so I'm hoping they did the fix.

Cool man, if you get it you'll enjoy it, it's better than a Civic lol.

Even if it has the updated screws in it, check them. I found one loose on my 06 (closest one to timing chain.) Red loc tite is the only way to go.
