ive heard that it only weighs like 20lbs. so its really not worth it if you are doing it to try to make your car lighter, unless you are serious about weight reduction.

i want to do it because its non functional, and i could use that space for other things instead of a non usable seat

ive thought about this too since the back seats are basically useless. I don't know about the s14's but in my s13 the driver seat bumps right up to the edge of the rear seat, and I'm pretty short. I've seen it done to an integra show car. i have no pics tho. it looked basicly like they fabricated a wall of sorts that was flush with the pannels in the back and the floor and carpeted it to match. then since it was a show car they mounted a big amp there to show it off.

exactly... its useless in my s13 fb, and i figured i could either build a wall+floor where the seat is, or just a floor and have a nice long storage area

i took out all of the interior from the front seats to the trunk. i like how it looks. in the s14 it actually makes the car look bigger inside.

The backseats are sorta functional. They absorb sounds such as road and muffler noises. When I had my interiorless Civic hatchback, it was freakin loud inside the cabin. BUt if you're one of those die hards who could live with the sound, go for it.

Well if you dont mind dismanteling the back seat to where its no longer functional. here is what you could do

take out the back and bottom cushion (pretty easy)

take the back peacepull all the pading off so you only have the metal fram left.mont it back into the car the same way you took it out. with the back careting back on it.

next get some wood, or sheet metal, make a flat pice that folows the floors shap and comes up to the hight of the back seat fram that is leavel with the rest of the floorcover it with automotive carpet, or what ever you want (think you can pick it up at car audio stores)mount it so that the metal fram from the old seat seats on the top of it to give it supportyou could even make some sort of latch for when its down so it says shut, and even lock itthen you would have a small storage space behind the front seats.

you might not even have to take apart the old seat, you might be able to take the hardware off that alows the seat to fold down and use either a pice of HDPD or sheet metal, with a custom backing. so you could put your seat back in at a later time if you want.

actuallyi was thinking the same thing, and i want to put a little fridge that plugs in to your car back there. (i take 3+ hr road trips at least 2x a month). i think thatd be nice to have a cold red bull only inches away.

fibreglast.com site is way cool, i could use that.

Well it comes down to if you want to save weight or not, haveing this come up makes me want to try it, maybe make a custom box with lid, and i can swap out with my seat. might be pretty cool. maybe if it works well i might try and sell them. that is if i ever get off my lazy *** in the frist place and make one.

this is kinda funny, I spent 2 hours yesterday taking everything from the front seats out, even the jack and spare tire. I'm looking at somehow putting my subs where the back seats used to be, however with that big bump in the middle I don't know if it will work. The car looks much bigger with the back seats out, not crowded at all. I'm going to keep them out, and try and make a flat surface for my books, or to shows off my subs or amp, only problem is that people will be able to see my subs and amp and that makes it a good target to get broken into. It is a LOT louder too. I'm gonna dynomat the whole thing and then try and somehow put my 6X9's and my amp where the back seats used to be.
