Maybe Steve can address this... My back seat just started rattling a month or so ago. I've narrowed it down to the latch. At first I thought it wasn't latched and it was just vibrating against the hook, but I checked and there is some free play.

I haven't checked to see if either side is loose (bolts), but I'm wondering if anybody else has dealt with this. SoCal roads are in horrible condition right now and I feel EVERYTHING. I guess the RE01Rs and RE050As aren't helping much either.

Another thing to check, This happened to me on my 03 coupe, fortunately on the way to the dealership for another matter. About halfway there I started to get a terrible rattle from the backseat area. They checked it out at the dealership and it turned out that the emergency brake cable had come loose and was vibrate like crazy. good luck,

Thanks. I'm sure this is the seat. I can repeat the noise by rocking the seat back and forth.

Hey buddy,

If you detect free play in the seat (pushing and pulling motion, while positioned in a very odd way facing rearward in the back seat) then I would say to see if either the locking assembly or latch bar in the seat are loose.

If it is a metal on metal creak and there is no sign of movement I would say apply a small amount of AP or lithium grease to the locking mechanism so when it does move it won't make noise.

Pretty simple trick if nothing is blatantly wrong.

Gracias!!!

Didn't think about the grease idea. There is probably 1/8-3/16 of movement from what I recall. Getting back there to check things out is a real pain because I'm so tall, but I'll check it out later.

I just picked up a rattle in my dash that is driving me nuts when on rough road...
