I have been on this issue a lot over the past year and still the cars does not run..1990 infiniti m30 with rb20 swap. The harness being converted is the issue right now. I had it put in a shop, but in the last 1 1/2 months, all they have done is order turbo lines and put a wastegate in it. Im debating on whether I should pull the car out, take it home and do it myself, and save hella cash. Oooor leave it there, let them work on it like 1 time a week, and pay out my balls to let them finish this. If anybody knows about the wiring for this swap, or wiring in general that can assist me in finishing this, I will pull it this weekend and finish it myself. Thanks.

Shops can be busy, and need to make money.
A higher priced job might get preference over yours.
Someone who always comes to them, and is known to be a good payer, may get preference over you. (It doesn't seem right when you know you have the money, and just want your car finished)

If you have the know how, pull the car from the shop and do the work yourself.
If you can't do the work yourself, DON'T turn up to the shop, and pay for the job in full...... they will just take even longer.

He's right about shop needing a steady income, BUT customer service is a huge part. I had a shop do mine because I didn't have the time to do it and I wanted it done. It took them 8 months working at a decent pace, some hours on mine and what they needed as an income for the week also. If I were you I would go in and talk to them, explain you have the money now and you can pay weekly or something like that so it doesn't seem like a dead project. Make it a point to go and have them explain their progress and take pictures of the work. ALSO before all that explain you dont want this to be a forever project and talk to them about their timeline and goals for the time expectation. If the timeline does not agree with you then pull it out and do somethings yourself and possibly put it back in later. Just make sure be nice because if you go in with a mood then you will regret it. I hope this helps.

It wouldnt take nearly 8 months to finish this project. The harness needs finishing, custom downpipe, alt bracket fab, drill some holes in the shifter plate for the bolt pattern on the rp71c transmission, mount fmic and its done really. Im not dumb enough to pay for a job in full lol. I pay about 700 at a time and let them work through that, was est. about 2k to finish, but the time frame is unknown. My only problem w/ the slow progress is atm Im a 1 car family and getting out of work to take care of things is difficult. Aaand I really wana drive my car :naughty: I completely understand the politics of car shops though, and it was to be expected. I posted this more as a request for assistance or advice from others who have done a similar swap for the harness, If I could get some good references to material online or anyone else's writeups, would be cool and prob. enough for me to work off of. Thanks. Also, in the beginning I was told about 2 weeks for the completion, however, the shop has had some lack of workers (for a better term), and have been backed up from other customers being difficult. In the last month and some days all that has been accomplished is a wastegate (that was in the shop already) was installed and some turbo lines were ordered and installed, not a good pace imo.

Ok so while stumbling around sections just to see what was out there I found this. You need to get in touch with Dustin Setayish, owner and operator of Midnight Auto. He is on here as well. his name is DustinZ. Wiring guru, best of the best.
