Yep, just like the song says… I’m back,…bahahahahack I’m back in black.
Here’s what it use to look like:
Today I completely removed the wood trimmed dash, instrument panel and console bezels and replaced them with plain ole’ black ones! Now “The Big Sexy” is starting to look sexy on the inside too. Along the way I fixed some broken stuff under the bezels like the ashtray mounting clips and other things. Here’s some pics of the trim removed:
I took the time while I had the instrument panel piece removed to clean the vents and everything you see. It was filthy!
Here are some pics off under the center consol. You can see the filth! I took it all out and cleaned the area good.
The white connector in this pic is for the Height control switch which is only on the "active" models. I wraped it in electrical tape and tucked it away because the console piece I have as a replacement isn't from a "active" Q and doesn't have that switch. The little gold thing next to it is a "G" sensor, also only in the "active" models.
The gray box behind the air bag control in this pic is the power door lock timer relay. I need a new one, so If anyone has a spare, talk to me….
I also need this. It’s one piece that wraps around the bottom of the center console. Mine is broken in a few different places on the inside. Partly the reason I’ve replaced these trim pieces was because they are broken in places.
I need the two things I pointed out, so if anyone had them please let me know. I have not put the center console under the middle arm rest back on because I need the Timer and a metal clip that you actually screw a screw into not the one that you just "pop" into place.
I also removed the glove box and everything behind it to remove the cooling box which contains the evaporater and expansion valve. I've doing a write up on that, so it's be a day or so to see it.
