Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of buying a 350z but I have a 18 month old child to think about.

Is it possible to fit a child seat into this car? is it safe?

thanks!

Not to be disrespectful, or presumptuous, but is the 350 really a car that you're going to be happy with down the road with an infant riding shotgun?

If this is a concern for you now, imagine trying to haul all the necessary "accessories" that you'd need for your 18 month old. I would highly recommend something with a backseat and more room.

I love my Z, but am also a single guy and don't have to worry about transporting a kid. I didn't think that I'd ever say this to anyone, but maybe the Z isn't the car for you.

I have another car with is an estate, which my wife drives, but I want something smaller and faster.

I won't be using this car as a primary vehicle for my daughter, it's just to drop her off at nursery 3 times a week. I won't be going shopping with her or doing things like that.

I was just curious as to whether a baby/child seat would fit inside one.

I seriously don't understand why people want or buy a 350Z if they complain about the absence of a back seat or want to carry kids around. Where will you fit them? It's a 2 seat sports car...not a family car. Putting an infant in the front seat isn't the smartest idea...with a car seat or not.

If I were you i'd get a G35 coupe instead. It shares the same platform as the Z...but has a backseat.

You should really just get another sedan or something but if you must have something like a Z, just get a G.

Guy's he said it wont be the primary vehicle his daughter will be riding in, just to take her around once every so often. If someone could answer the question if it will fit would be cool.

Okay but how often do you see an infant in one of those child seats riding shotgun? They're usually sitting in the back.

I dont see a different between shotgun and the back, aslong as she is secured it shouldnt matter, even in a head on accident the only thing the front would worry about more is the windsheild shattering and trust me the glass still hits you in the back seat.

It will fit.... but you need to disable the passenger airbag. It is a MUST!!!!!!!!!!

This car does not have a passenger airbag on/off button or automatic weight detection. So you will need to go to the dealership and have them install one. It is an option, even if they tell you it doesn't exsist. They tried to tell my friend the same thing and he found it on the internet for his 350z.... it is a true Nissan part.

I will say it again, you must disable the passenger airbag.

So basically, unless the car's air bag can be disabled by the dealer or I buy a car which has had a factory option to disable it fitted, it's pretty dangerous to put a baby/child seat into the car.

1. You're not supposed to put baby/child seats in the front of a car.

2. Most dealers won't want to disable the airbag

3. All in all its not very safe

If I were you I'd look into what is essentially the 2+2 350Z....a G35

hey remember when you were kids and rode in a vynil bench seat with only a lap belt!?

I think our society has gotte a little overly safe, I gotta say I'm not too familair with child seats the old ones used to just go in with the lapand or shoulder belt, the new ones have extra straps for stock tiedown points, does the 350Z not have the additional hidden loops in the crack of the seat for securing a child saftey seat? does the Z not have the airbag lockout?

It's dangerous if your airbag goes off. The impact from an airbag is fine for adults, but will kill infants.

The dealer is not going to disable it. They are going to install a switch so the customer can disable it. Most new cars have a switch like that from the factory, or some sort of weight recognition that disables it automatically. It should be in there!

While this is a bit off-topic, short drivers can be injured by driver airbags. Geneally, shorter drivers have to sit very close to the steering wheel and if the bag doesn't have room to open before the driver is thrown forward, then it will deploy into the driver. Airbags can open at speeds exceeding 200 mph. Noone should ever be in the way of one when it opens. you want to hit the airbag after it's deployed. Then the maximum speed at which you will hit it is the speed of the vehicle itself.

you know what else can kill an infant, how about a mack truck? there are no 100%'s you can't expect everyone to drive a volvo just so they and their children can be safer, todays Z is far safer than sedans of a decade ago, don't bach the guy for needing to transport his child, he's looking for the safest way given the car that he has

I've been in an accident where I happened to not be wearing my seatbelt, in most cases ti would save your life, in my case not wearing it allowed me to escape with only a pelvis broken in 2 places and not being able to walk for 6 months, the seatbelt would have held me in place as the camry t-boned my drivers door doing far more damage, you can play the odds but sometimes you lose
