Hey guys, since this is the Sentra'07 is my first car and the car is still somewhat new with about 27,000 miles. I'm just curious to see if I should be following the service recommendations by Nissan or can I get by just doing the 3,000 mile oil change and the 15,000 mile services?

At Clay Nissan, the 30,000 mile service costs $400 while there is a special at Marlboro Nissan for only $189 until the end of September. I am not quite at 30,000 miles but I figured if I'm going to do the 30,000 mile service, I might as well do it before the special ends and save $200. What are your thoughts?

Marlboro Nissan's 30,000 mile service usually costs $419 and includes the following:

Replace coolant.Replace In-cabin air filter.Replace transmission fluid.Add Premium Engine Protection.Adjust rear brakes if needed.Adjust tire pressure.Check & top off all fluids.Inspect all lights.Inspect boots.Inspect drive axles.Inspect engine drive belts.Inspect exhaust system.Inspect front & rear brakes.Inspect horn operation.Inspect propeller shaft.Inspect radiator hoses.Inspect shocks & struts.Inspect wiper blades.Install fuel system cleaner.Replace engine air filter.Road test.Rotate & balance tires.Service battery.

Regular oil changes and standard maintenance should be plenty. They may not accept your car for a 30k service yet, but you can drop by and see. It's pretty close.

I actually did the first service recommendation which cost me $170 bucks which really consist of much. I'm at 22300 miles and that 30,000 pricing looks absolutely ridiculous for just inspections and topping off fluids. I guess that's how dealerships make their money?

If you can get it done cheaper somewhere else, I would say go for it. I should have done that, but stupid me didn't.

Dealship pricelist said the 30k service would be $430 so I made an appointment. When I brought it in, they said it would be an extra $150 because I have a CVT...so yeah, nearly $600 for the service.

So word of advice, make sure you get a quote for service on the CVT transmission if you have it.

I have no idea about the propeller shaft.... Anyone else might know??? Too bad your not in Boston, otherwise I'll be right there with as many cups of coffee as you want. But NY is not that far. hmmm...

Propeller shaft is used only in FR vehicles.

For sentra we don´t use Propeller shaft, only Driveshafts one for each front wheel. (FF Vehicle)

If that's true, then Nissan's charging for BS inspections unless that was a typo of some sort.
