Does anyone know the weight of the stock 16" alloy rims? Been looking around online but I didn't see the weight. I have been reading online that there's not much advantage upgrading your rims to a larger size other than for looks since bigger rims adds more weight, wear down the brakes more, the speedometer will need to be adjusted, and fuel economy will suffer. I am hoping to find 17"s that weigh about the same as the stock 16" alloys. I've been looking and looking for SE-R or G35/G37 type looking rims but haven't seen any 4 lug ones out there. As an alternative, I've found a few on Tirerack that look decent: Borbet V4, Eneki T-Fork , or Asa JH3 .

I also want to keep the "Nissan" center cap and would prefer not to have extra lug holes which is why I'm leaning towards the Borbet V4 rims. How does Borbet compare to Eneki? Any opinions? Thanks,

Actually stock wheels tend to be very heavy for their size as they're designed to take punishment, rather than for performance.

Example:

My stock 16"s were about 23lbs each. My aftermarket 17"s are 19lbs each.

That said, there's the whole weight distribution issue (further away from the center, rotating mass, etc), and I haven't done the math, so I can't say for certain it's less work for the engine to turn these wheels, but the point is that larger doesn't necessarily mean heavier.
