B16 Fog Lamp Re-wire

I would like to run my fogs independently of my headlights... Ive seen it done on the infiniti qx ill have to find the link but in the meantime does anyone have info or a write up?

The easiest way to do it would be to run your own relay and switch to the fog lights themselves just as if you added aftermarket ones. There is a way to do it using the existing switch on the main headlight switch but it's more complicated and I believe you have to open up the stalk and cut off the notch that prevents it from turning unless you have the headlight on. I read it a long time ago so I don't remember the thread but I believe it was on the Altima site.

I haven't actually tried it but this might work. If you splice your fog lights' power lead to a separate relay (with its own inline fuse) which you can then power on by tapping into the DRL's fuse located in the engine compartment, I imagine something like that can work and when you turn your low beams on, it will switch the new relay off (DRL is high beam with lower current) and the factory one will take over so you can then control the fogs via the stock switch if you want them on with your headlights also. Hope that makes sense to you...........

(I DID NOT RIGHT THIS UP[created by AZNHAVOK at myspec-v.com]). Ive been searching around for a way to change the way b16s fog light are setup. from factory you need to have your low beam to get your fog lights to turn on, I wanted to have it turn on with my park lights. after my search ive came across a way to accomplish this from the site/forum nicoclub

here it is.note i did not write it up but performed the mod to my b16 with no problems

In this article we will show you how to bypass your fog lights so they come on with your parking lights using the factory switch.

Skill Level 3 of 5

Time Required <1Hr

Tools and Supplies

-Wire strippers

-Mini fuses

-Add-a-circuit, or similar device

first go to auto zone, advanced auto, pep boys, what ever you have localy and find an add-a-circuit(also called a fuse tap. looks like this Parts Express but you need one for the MINI fuses)

1:Remove your under hood fuse panel lid and locate the tail light fuse.

Note:If you want the lights to be able to come on without any other lights you will need to find a different fuse to replace.

2:Remove the fuse and put aside.

3:Now cut the connector off the end of the fuse tap as close to the connector as you can. you will need a blade connector and strip a small amount of wire to hook the blade connector up.

Note:You will probably need to grind down the connector some unless you have some very small blade connectors. this can be done with a bench grinder and a pair of needle nose pliers. use a fuse for a guide.

4:Crimp the connector on the fuse tap and install the tail light fuse in the tap(follow the instructions that came with it).

5:At this time locate the fog light fuse and remove. install that fuse in the empty slot on the fuse tap.

6:Now install the tap in the tail light fuses spot and connect the blade connector in the "cold" side of the fog light fuse slot. it was the lower of the two.your fog lights will now come on with the parking lights as well as with the head lights. GOOD LUCK GUYS AND GALS!!
