b14 sr20ve wont start after swap help please !!

I have a 96 se-R i swapped out the de engine for a ve. car wont start i turn the key its dead as if the battery was dead but even giving it boost nothing.Im thinking its a ground issue but i think i got it all plugged up now i have notice plenty plugs were left unplugged i had no slots for them is that normal? also i noticed on most nissans the positive battery terminal had to wires clipped in this one only has one that makes me feel like im missing the other one i know with nissan if the wire comes out it automatically turns off

If you did a swap and there are wires unplugged, then they might be vital in the engine starting and also running if you get it started.
I would get the right harness for the engine before going further.

Typically you get the engine, harness and ecu.
