B13 SE-R Transmission options

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hey all. I've got a B13 SE-R that's grinding going in to second and third. I'm willing to bet that the syncros are on their way out. I'm trying to gather my options on transmissions. I know I can rebuild the one I have, but I really can't have the car down that long. The best option I've been able to come up with so far is taking the transmission from a 200SX SE-R.

Thanks for your input!

200sx se-r

91-96 g20t

91-93 nx2k

another se-r transmission.

The b13 and nx2k transmission will have 5th gear pop out sooner or later. I would find a 200sx se-r which is the same gear ratio. The g20 transmission will have taller gearing, which is better for boosted cars.

you may also use B15 (5 speed) or P11 transmission with lil modifications.

You can also go with the B15 6 speed but you would have some fabrication to do.

B15/P11 is over-kill on N/A sentra. That setup is mainly for the turbo guys makes ridiculous amounts of power. Plus those transmission still pull a premium.

Im a new owner of a 92 nissan sentra se-r .I bought it even through it's been through alot of abuse. Which is fine because i have some plans for her (her name is Sentra) :)
Meanwhile I just want to get her street drivable, which is were my ? Is .Ok it's having gear issues :

The shifter feels loose and is having trouble reaching 4th, 5th and reverse. It could just be that the linkage between the shifter and transmission needs to be tightened, or it could be another issue.

That's from the previous owner. Now how true is the above suggestion mentioned above☝️☝️?

I would get under the car and look at the shift linkage to check for any wear or bending. If everything looks good, it's most likely internal to the transmission. If you plan to stay N/A, I would just get another SE-R (B13 or B14) transmission to replace it with. The B15 trans is nice if you can swing it though. More reliable in the long run and it's decent if you decide to go the turbo route.
