Hello all,
I recently bought an 03 Pathfinder. Thanks to this forum, I was able to fix all the little issues it had except for one. My SES light is on for a B1100 code. I checked the factory service manual to no avail. I called my local Nissan dealership, and after trying to look for it for 30 minutes, the service dept. told me to bring it in for a diagnostic for $60, which I'd like to avoid doing since this issue doesn't seem to affect anything. Torque (what i use to check DTC's) doesn't give any info on it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any symptoms?

"B" and "C" codes typically refer to something outside of the engine/emissions "P" codes. In this case, some 'body' issue. Google search returns indicates it's likely related to a fault in the airbag system, or Supplement Restraint System.

The SRS in the Nissan has its own module/brain to report trouble codes. However, such codes are usually flagged on the dash cluster by an "SRS" or "Air Bag" (the red one of the passenger with a deployed air bag) after the SRS does its check when the ignition is turned to On. SRS codes won't trigger the SES/CEL light.

In the FSM, take a look at the RS section, specifically RS-52 for a 2003MY.
http://www.nicoclub.com/manuals/Pathfin ... der/rs.pdf
It describes the tool-less procedure to display the problem code(s), which isn't as a "B" code, but instead a series of flashes of the airbag light. That section will also guide you through any additional troubleshooting.

Thanks for that. I never thought to check that part of the manual. I'm almost certain the pre-tensioner for the drivers seat belt does not work, but I will do the diagnosis when I get off work.

Thank you again!

Found the issue. Its not related to the air bag system. I had a random ABS light so a buddy and I inspected the sensors and noticed one of the wires was nicked. He pulled on the wires and the wire just broke because of corrosion so we just left it alone until we could replace the sensor. I didn't put 2 and 2 together because we checked it soon after I bought it. With how fast the SES comes on (30min to 1hr), it should have came on when I drove it 4 hours back home but didn't.

I guess that's a better outcome than anything related to the SRS system, but still important to get fixed. Sorry if I misled you, just going off limited info, hence the mention about the SRS light should have come on.

Many DTCs aren't time dependent; they're event-driven. Some will trigger the SES on the 1st event, as "1st-trip DTC". Others will trigger on 3 consecutive driving events (i.e., starting and stopping the car three times). Some will auto-clear after the 3 consecutive events of no issue being detected (like a loose gas cap causing a vacuum leak), but others (mostly 1st-trip DTC) will not clear automatically. The exact logic is entirely dependent on its criticality.

Its no problem, seems to be no info on the code online or even from the dealer. Finally got around to replacing the ABS sensor (3 hours and a sledgehammer later).
