Bought a B&M shifter used from someone. However, the thread on the shifter is 3/8" instead of 10x1.5 like stock...wtf.

I'm pretty sure its not a knock off since he sent it to me the original B&M box with the old warranty paper for it (2004). The stock knob will thread onto it but I don't like that.

So now I either have to find a decent 3/8" knob (hard time with this so far) or rethread a knob with a helicoil.

Also has the nasty rattle, does anyone know if the lifetime warranty covers that?

rattle is normal. if it's a real b&m it'll have a blue anodized base plate with "b&m" etched into it. if your oem knob threads onto it, why wouldn't it be the right thread pitch?

from what i understand the OEM knob has plastic threads so they are able to bend to fit the slightly different thread shifter however aftermarket ones with metal threads won't. Believe me I have a handful of different thread M10 nuts I got to try it out.

oem definitely has metal threads. you sure you have an oem knob? now when you say that you have a bunch of m10 nuts, you sure they're all m10x1.5? there are 4 different m10 threads, m10x1.5 being a coarse thread, while the others are fine threads.

I had a legit B&M and my knob threaded on there fine

as for the rattle you need to take the s***ty bushing B&M gives you off the bottom and put an OEM one on and it wont rattle anymore

yea M10 with different thread pitch's, M10x1.00, M10x1.25, M10x1.50 none will thread onto the B&M shifter but the M10x1.50 will thread on the stocker (I forget if it was the 1.25 or the 1.50)
