Can anyone give me advice on when a driver should use the regenerative braking in the Nissan Altima? Is there an appropriate technique or time when one should use the "B" and just how does it work? Sorry to be so naive, but I just purchased the Altima last week.

thanks

Regenerative braking works every time you brake while in "D" or "B." You can't turn it on or off. The "B" means low gear. It's for steep grades for driving uphill.

Read your manual....it explains both.

The thing about the Hybrid, you will notice after a while...your right foot will be very sensitive on the gas. Meaning, you'll lift it incrementally during some straight aways to get the electric motor to run and the engine to turn off. I noticed it when I started crusing below 40 mph. After 40 mph, the engine would run with the electric motor.
