I called B&M today, spoke with JP. He said they are trading the old for the new. Call them for an RMA #, then remove your 1st gen B&M shifter and mail it to them. According to JP, B&M will then ship you a new "revised" unit. That's good customer service

I'll be sending mine tomorrow. I'll give you an idea what I went through to assist in noise dampning on my 1st gen:
1) Taped lead around the counter weight neck.
2) Didn't use the supplied aluminum knob shifter ... that amplifies the noise.
3) Dipped the top half of the shifter in a liquified rubber solution.
4) Pressed small amounts of cork and Dynomat into the shift knob before installing on stem.
5) Made a cork gasket between the shifter plate and base, as well as inbetween the base and transmission.
Hehe, while some of that worked, it sure didn't make too much of a difference ... consider it an experiment

The problem is that I really love the shifter! So I gave up and put up with the noise and high-rev vibration. BTW, B&M's fix is not just one to the 2nd gen shifter; they made 5 changes to accomodate the noise and feedback.
