So i got my short shifter in. I searched the hell out of the Technical, Mechanic and General Forums, but i didn't find anything that really described the install so hopefully when people search, this will help them. The direction that i recieved were very clear, but some parts were off for the S13.
***You WILL need to get under the car to get the front 2 bolts connected to the transmission***
Tools: Philips head screw driver, socket wrench with 10mm and 12mm sockets, and the key... the most important tool, the 12mm box end rachet with a swivel head (for those who don't know, its like a wrench, but the box end works like a socket wrench and can swivel to 90 degrees)
1. Take off your shift knob
2. take off the shift boot and black trim.
3. Take out the 2 screws infront, 2 more on the front passenger and driver side and and on the back (you will have to mover the seat forward to reach these).
4. Disconnect the wire harnesses underneath the center console (cigarette lighter, e-brake and mirror controls).
5. remove the 4 screws holding in the rubber cover and remover the cover. Use the 10mm socket and an extender to get these off.
6. You should now see 4 bolts (12mm). These are easy, take them off and you are now left with 2 more 12mm bolts that you can only reach from under the car. Use the box end rachet with a swivel head here it will take a while but once they give you should be able to twist them off with your hands.
7. Now take out the old shifter and check the gasket. If its in good shape they say you can re-use it, but i just used the silocone instead, just to be safe.
8. When installing the B&M make sure the bottom clicks into the hole or you will be shifting nothing.
9. Now with the shifter in put on bolt in on the driver side and the passenger side to line up the holes. Now that they are alligned, get under the car again and reinstall the two front bolts again.
10. Now reinstall everything back starting with the rubber mount, plugging the wires back in, replacing the console and the shifter trim.
11. Start the car and make sure you're connecting with all the gears. This is an incredibly shot SHORT shifter. I thought i installed it wrong when i first ran through my gears. It is rock solid. You're shifter will no longer wobble while punching the trottle and....turning quickly.
With all the correct tools at hand the whole process should take no more than an hour. I hope this helps out some people who just need a little more help.
