i've tried a lot of s13 shifters and the b&m exceeds the rest by farScuffed_ChukiCoupe wrote:who else makes short shifters for ka's? I dont see alot of competition in that department... idk about the weighted knob, i like unweighted better, so i guess its up to the driver as far as that goes.
Is B&M better than Megan?Emperor_Tha wrote:megan is good only if u replace the shifter bushing from the get go with oem. Its $2.
Woo, Sorry for not getting back to you. I have been quite busy with my car. I would think it is.... I have never cut one apart but I don't think they would be hollow. I see the question has already been answered though so you don't even have to worry about it.tramp_drift240 wrote:alright, thanks for the info. hopefully its the same threads. im keeping my leather knob from my last car, so ill try it out on the shifter before cutting anything.
but the b&m's construction is solid right? itd suck if i went to re-tap a hollow one like the stock shifters are...
OH yes....WhiteKnight wrote:Is B&M better than Megan?
B&M quality is better than megan. B&m has the harder shifter spring to make it feel more solid that the megan. I got a friend that put 50k plus miles on it and its still going.WhiteKnight wrote:Is B&M better than Megan?
Where did you get the bushing from?Tuner_Gygax wrote:I just called up Enjuku Racing and was going to buy the b&m shifter but they recomended that I buy the megan v2 shifter. He told me that the build and the feel was identical. So for under the price of the b&m i got a megan sts and a peakperformance trans bushing, I also got a $10 nico club discount
Right in the blue part.ajolliff wrote:Okay, sorry to ask a stupid question. But where does the little spring for the b&m shifter go?
I got both parts from enjuku. I have bought all my stuff threw them so farn via phone. They have good shipping, and awsome customer service phone or email. I did my alignment and got all their drift specs, I was surprised that they would do that.WhiteKnight wrote:Where did you get the bushing from?
I cut the threaded part off mine. I made my own shift handle and did not want the threads. I have had no issues. I do recommend a heavy knob if you go shorter.94_240sx wrote:I was thinking about creating a new thread, but I think I can ask here. I've been using B&M shifter for several months now and I just love it. Today, I saw a Miata and its shifter was really short. I wonder if it's possible to cut a shifter somewhere in the middle like an inch and weld it back. To me, it's just a little too long. I know I'll loose some leverage, but is it going to be that bad? Anyone?
Yes, I'm aware of that. I'll loose some leverage, so it'll definitely require more force, but I think I can handle it. I called B&M and asked if they sell only the shifter unit which I'm going to cut, but they said no. Alright, I'll go ahead and do this mod and see what happens.WhiteKnight wrote:It will require more force to shift...........law of physics.
Alright, it's done, and I love it!!!! Here's the write up.iitywygms wrote:Dude, that is for you to decide. I cut mine short and have had no problems. You are cutting and welding, so if you can make it look good, it should not be an issue.
