Everytime I drive this car i get to like it more and more. I just took my first real road trip in it and it was a blast. Left MD 2:30pm last sunday and arrived in NY @ 5.
Comfort This thing really soaks up the miles. The seats are way more supportive than the Civic's. My bad back didn't even act up once during the trip. Alot of room to stretch out also. No backseat = bad for kids or alot of luggage. (But I knew this when I bought it. he he he)
Performance God bless torque! Man, between 70 and 100, this thing rips. While crusing in 5th, there isn't a need to downshift to pass someone. Just floor it and in about 3-4.5 secs, you're in tripple digits area. And, when i did go down to 4th, my wife was forced back in her seat. Loved that feeling!! i found myself creating reasons to shift after installing the B&M unit. Now I really wish for more top end power from this thing. The KYBAGXs were set on 1 front and 2 rear. They really soaked up the bumps but are still not as comfortable as the stock suspension. (no regrets though, just something the wife and I were discussing)
DRIVING IN NEW YORKDayum, they really need to fix the roads here. So many potholes, I saw a mini drop and one and the guy crwled out, leaving hte car down in the hole. There are quite a few modified Hondas over there as well, with their own share of rice.
Traffic rules don't mean **** there. It's almost like driving in Jamaica, so I felt right at home. I was staying at the Howard Johnson on Queens Blvd but my friends live on Barnes Ave. in the Bronx. So if I remember correctly, I drove the 278 to the Cross Bronx Expressway. The layout of the roads is nice. Hills, valleys and lots of corners. Folks there also drive fast. Makes it very intresting trying to dodge road craters with the locals.
I also got 6 inches of snow dumped on me when I got there. Imagine driving in a strange place, on strange roads, with ice on the road covered by 3-4 inches of snow @ 1:30 am!! I got suck a twice of times at the bottom of a couple steep hills and had to do some "creative" driving to get around.
My wife is also pissed at me cause I didn't let her drive at all on the way up to NY, for the 3 days we were there, and only for a short time on the way back to MD.
I have to make another round trip there next week Saturday, so that'll be fun.
Oh yeah, I hate dial up. That's all they had there, untill I found a weak, unsecured Network. The best internet access is free broadband. he he he.
long read, but thanks for listening.
