SUCK DEEYCK!! One left me stranded 100 miles away from home and the other one died a week after putting it on. Is there any other alternative besides OEM?? I just know they're gonna make me wait 3 days to get it in and I don't want to wait that long w/o my car >_<

First of all don't run a mechanical fan on any aftermarket or even current nissan OEM replacement pumps, as most of these aren't built for it and are built for FWD CA's.

Get electrics and you probably won't blow any more out if that was the cause.

if you search there was a thread that diverged to covering this sometime in the past 2 weeks or so, with some pictures of differences.. I think the most recent theory was that since the center of the pully was shaped different it allowed the mech. fan to be bolted on off-center and vibrate off-center causing quick destruction to the pump.. ?

Yeah from what I've seen and what makes sense to me from a mechanical standpoint the FWD pump isn't balanced or setup with the proper bearing to run a fan on it. It increases the load on the shaft/bearing of the pump and either snaps or causes it to leak. I'd get a electrical fan setup to supplement that FWD pump and you should be golden...

I fitted an AP/Delphi water pump and it never caused me any problems.

That's because you can get RWD CA parts. Nothing we have available in the US is for the RWD CA, it's all FWD. Unless you did get a FWD one, but i've never heard of anthing like that available here.

Isn't it the same part? when I brought it the man at the counter was shocked by how cheap it was, and it went a range of ca's, it was only £28!!!!

its apparently the alternate part # for your water pump (because I used the JDM rwd part # in the computer and it gave me the alternate USDM FWD replacement) however they are not the same if you compare the 2 side by side:) see that other thread I made with pictures of the differences...

I thought someone said you could get the pump from a CA18ET 200SX which was RWD.

the parts should definately bolt up - whether it self destructs or not is the question. (one of the alternate #'s for the RWD CA18ET/CA20E is also an alternate # for the FWD CA16DE in the KN13 pulsar, and since we already know all FWD and RWD DE pumps interchange ....)

ahh! didn't know that:) if that's the case why doesn't someone go buy one and test it out? I'd like to see if they are indeed the same as the JDM RWD CA pumps, or if they have that skinny center piece like the USDM FWD pumps we're all using...

i have the 200sx ca18et water pump on my ca18det.

everything works great. i supposed it should hold up the mechanical fan as well but i didnt want to test it.

after i blew the fwd pump with the mech fan i said fook it and slapped on an electrical fan even with the new rwd water pump

I really need to get around to getting a working copy of the japnese FAST (nissan parts catalog) but the only place I know to get it, last time I ordered stuffs the japanese version had a corrupt disc (so it crashes on some cars (i.e. S13s) and can't even use parts master to x-ref).. tho the others (european & etc) were fine.

then I would truly be THE GOD OF CROSSREFERENCING
