Sorry for starting a new post here but it was imperative I get a response asap since I'm right in the middle of my pillar removal mod and it's illegal for me to drive without seatbelts here in Ca. I've got a question about the slot you cut to feed the belt out of...

My question is...is it possible to completely disconnect one end or the other of the actual material belt from it's retractor in order to feed it through the slot? If not (and I don't think it is but I could be wrong) how did you get away without cutting a small slit all the way to the edge of the pannel like Nissan did with the oem doors?

I need to finish my belts tomorrow so if anyone else knows the answer feel free to chime in. Thanks a bunch. -Glyph

NOPE.

I cut a small slit in the side of the metal loop, slipped the belt out, flipped it, put it back on once it's inside, and then I "clamped" the little slot back down... you could weld it, but I saw no need.

Cool, I figured it out. I just pulled all the stitches, flipped everything upside down or rightside up as need may be, then sewed it back up. Thanks anyway. Lovin' my new pillar-less 240sx. -Glyph

I know it is a little late but I used S14 belts. No cutting, no bending, just mount the retractor section in the side panel and push the ends through the slit. Once through, you connect the top section (belt latch) and the floor section - simple, cheap, painless!

Got any pics of it with the S14 belts? I got the coupe doors on but haven't mounted new seatbelts yet. Car's not registered at the moment so I'm in no rush. Sounds like a good alternative though

Will do my best to get decent pics for you over the next couple of days. Need a sunny day with the top down to get good photos and it has been raining all day today.

Not much to see; I don't know how they are different from other options but these were an easy fit - front belts from a wrecked '96.
