Ok, first of all, I see Exar-Kun's FAQ regarding tires. I'd like to get more opinions regarding these tires. I want them for street use (I don't drive the car every day...but they aren't for drag or autocross.) It rains in FL so I don't want something that sucks when it's wet. I've heard good and bad about the Falken Azenis and the Kumho Ecsta. Please tell me your thoughts on these.

Oh and of course I would love to get the Bridgestone Potenza S03's...but don't think I can afford them! Please don't "rub it in"! Please post quickly as I am about to get these tires this weekend.

you cna afford dunlop sp9000, but not the s-03? there usually in the same price range. ANyways, for a daily driver, the dunlop sp9000 would be your best(and probably most expensive) bet. Its excellent in the rain for a high-performance tire, and very quiet. The azenis will wear quicker, and be worse in any hard rain than the dunlop, and the kumho would be the "cost--effective" option(but better in the rain than the azenis, but not as grippy). but you already read my opinion on them :p-chet

Well...my mechanic says he can get me the SP9000 for $85 each. I can't get a good price on the S03...best I can get them is on tirerack.com.

Let me ask you this: Are the SP9000s on par with the S03s? Would you get the SP9000s for $85 or the Azenis for $77.38?

Edit: I just learned that the SP 9000s that my mechanic are referring to are the V rated tires. I don't see anything about them on tirerack. Only the Z rated ones.

I'm just about finished wearing out my set of kumhos and I liked them...plenty of traction in the rain until you wear them down, then they like to hydroplane all over the place...especially on I4.

the ES-100 hasnt been out long enough for people to have "wear issues"...but for a Z or higher rated tire, I dont understand how people can ***** about wear ratings anyway...If you wanted a long lasting tire, you shoulda bought a civic with an S-rated 14" tire!

anyways, I like the ES100...I've never heard of a sp9000 in a "V" rating..thats odd. No they are not "on par" with the s03. the s03 will nuke a sp900 in every condition except heavy rain, where the sp9000 does very well..

Thanks for the info on the sp9000. I'll be going with the Azenis for $77.38. Let me know if any of you think this isn't a good price.

I went with the kumho MX's my dad has them on his maxima and he use to beavble to burn out all 1st and 2nd, now he can only hold a burnout for some of 1st, and until he got his B pipe and Y pipe he couldnt chirp 2nd, but now he can, so yeah they are pretty sticky and Y rated, for my 180mph excursions.

Thanks for the info and welcome to the forum dude. I'll go with this local guy since I don't have to pay shipping and wait for them.

Thanks guys...I went with the Azenis. So far I really like them. The only problem (if you can call it a problem) is that I can't drift on them. Seems like my stock (other than exhaust) S14 doesn't have enough power to get them spinning. Oh and imagine how "smart" I felt after discovering that the tires on my 200sx are showing the threads! I should have replaced them first since the Kumhos on the 240 at least had some tread on them. :( Now I gotta buy some new tires for the 200sx before I can drive the car again!
