I'm new tire shopping and think I've narrowed it down to the Falken Azenis RT-615. The only thing that's bothering me is the fact that they might wear down rather quickly. I drive 80 miles roundtrip everyday to work and roughly average about 1500 miles every month. Has anyone been running the new RT-615's for more than a couple months? And if so, how has your tire wear been? Anyone know how tire wear/traction compares to the Kumho MX (my next choice)?

Im not sure about the Azenis, but my Khumo MX's have actually worn REALLY well. Ive actually been able to rotate them, unlike my last rims, so the tire wear is much better than I expected. I give a thumbs up to the MX's, but alot of people are happy with the 615's as well.

1500 miles a month? Damn.

I wouldn't reccomend getting anything that is rated at 200 treadwear.

Remember that any 200 treadwear tire is gonna wear pretty much the same as any other 200 treadwear tire.

Hankook RS2 is another option, and has very similar performance to the 615 and mx, and is cheaper than both. If you really are set on driving 1500 miles a month on autocross tires, I would reccomend getting the RS2's, because at least they are more affordable. I just got some for my car and love them so far. Pic of the tread:

If I were you, I would go with some falken fk452s for the better treadwear.

or Dunlop dz101, cheaper than any of those, falls somewhere between the hankooks and a yokohama es100

or for big bucks the potenza s-03 with a 240 treadwear is a good balance.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the tire sizes I'll be running. I'm staying with what I'm currently running on my Nitto 555's, which is 245/40/18 and 275/35/18. Neither the RS2's or DZ101's come in both these sizes.

I was happy with the treadwear on my Nitto's, but the tires themselves were a bit numb and didn't provide much feedback on the road. I'm trying to find a replacement tire that will provide more traction in both straightline acceleration and be more predictable around the corners.

I was thinking about the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 as another possible alternative.

No way Id run the Azenis daily, the 215's had a tread life of about 10,000 miles.

i would highly recommend getting a second set of wheels for times when you want the grip, and running your current wheels UHP instead of extreme performance tires...something that will have decent grip and good treadwear (maybe 20-25k a set or so), and then have the sets that youll wear through in 5k for times when you want the grip

the GS-D3 is a really good tire, has lasted on my friends 350z for a couple of years. and he drives like a bat out of hell all the time. i almost got the gsd3's.
