76 dollars is cheap for a decent tire. buy two mount them and enjoy. they'll last a while as the front tires arent stressed as much as the back tires, but dont expect a gazillion miles out of them if you drive hard everywhere you go and/or go to drift, autocross, hpde' extremely often

kumho mx or hankook rs-2 are the closest thing to azenis.

front tires really don't wear badly. I've done 8+ events on the same pair of azenis rt215's in the front... I don't daily drive on them though, so the only wear they've seen is at the track.

stay away from the ziex. all it is is a good cheap economy tire. horrible grip overall. you cant put a price on tires really, they are the best suspension modification you can really shell out cash too.

Wear up to quickly??! Ziex have a 360 treadwear rating. That is a super slow wearing tire compared to UHP tires.

I'm going hankook rs-2 in 235/40/17 myself.

Hows this for being bad ***.

I have had the same 2 rt615s on the front of my ls1fd since it was built. Thats like 6 months and 9 track events. Still gripping strong.

Rt615's FTW !!!!

Use google.

azenis 215 is no longer produced. 615 replaced it.

Actually the rt has allways been the replacement for the old rt whatever it was. The 215 was replaced by the new rk that will be out soon. Best of both worlds!

All the tires from Falken you are considering are Ultra High Performance (UHP). Thats all Falken produces for your application. The RT-215 was the predecessor to the Newer and improved RT-615. You can still find RT-215s out there as some dealers still have some on there shelves.

I can tell you the Ziex ZE-512 is the entry level UHP tire offered by Falken. From personal experience as well as 3 years time around the Falken Tire works drift team I can tell you they are a damn good tire for low weight & HP applications such as Corollas and KA 240s. In fact, to this day Taka Aono uses these on the Formula D circuit. However now that he will be making more HP (Hasslegren Formula Atl motor) he is going to a 16 inch Watanabe wheel and will be using RT-615s all the way around.

My advise to you....Seto, pick up a set of Azenis Rt-615s out front at ~30 psi and Ziex ZE-512s out back with about 40psi of air for drift. I think you will love it....for the price no other tire company can match the overall quality and longevity of the Falken product.

To drop some other interesting knowledge. The FK 452 was released this year and the FK 451 and ST-115 are still around. They are all great tires for SRs, KA-Ts, and VQs....pretty much anything making a decent amount of power. All of these models also carry the same quality and competitive price point of the Falken Tire brand that drifters have come to love and stand behind.

Man, I should work for Falken. Haha, I sound like a damn salesman.

Anyhow, happy tire buying!

Just like Luke said i also run the 615's and my fronts are just now getting down low on tread. I run them on all 4 corners though. They have very stiff sidewalls as well. It all depends on what your skill level and speed is...which usually go hand in hand. The tire width jut comes in which tire size you order. A 215 is not as wide as a 245..that is where the width comes into play. I take it you want to run the ziex in the back since you must be lower on power and don't get into 3rd gear much...I can only assume. But you made a typo in your post..haha. The 615's are great in the front and hardly scrub, they grip very well. Ziex are not very grippy. I used to run FK451's in front and ST115's in the rear before switching out to all 615's. The reason I liked the ST115 was how well and easily they smoked along with decent grip.

Refering the your first question I am assuming that you are talking about physical tread width apposed to the labled section width. I have noticed that the tread width on the 512s is skinnier than that of other tires with the same section width (I am a tire tech). I would think that a billy bad *** tire like the 615 would have a wider tread width than a 512 with the same section width, but I have never seen a direct comparison because most tire dealers don't stock falkens. I have seen mounted 225/40/17 ze512s next to kumho 712s and the falkens looked stretched and the kumhos were square.

I hope the section width/tread width thing is what you were asking about or else I just gave you a bunch of useless feedback.

To answer your very mangled question:

Azenis 615 run wider than most tires, even if the width spec is the same.

so much different speculation

soo many people praise the falken ziex 512and soo many more put it down as a poor performance tires

personally, for about 80% daily driving and 20% jus messin around, in canyons and track, i love these tres, amazing treadwear, really good grip for the buck.anyone else agree?

I just got my RT-615s. I can't wait to test them out. I'll be running those up front with Direzzas in the rear.

I've been seeing a lot of cars with 615s up front, and ziex in the rear, but NEVER ziex in front. My friend had them up front and he ended kissing the side of a mountain (not a bad crash, but still understeered way too much)

I got the RTs in 205/50/15. not too expensive. I'll let you know how they feel.

RT-615'S FTW!! I'll probably never go back to anything less. I used them in AutoX that turned into a drift session over the weekend. The people running the event allowed us make our own cone course for drifting. I'll be putting together a video of it.

Anyways, i know this thread is for "comparable" tires, but i must say Azenis are the ****. If you got the money, you will not be dissapointed in these.

I was able to enter turns faster than i ever have. All it took to do power overs was a flick of the wrist and I was sideways. My times are always slow, about +3 over my friend's, this day he beat me by -1 second. Once we started drifting, I started earlier and earlier every time. When most times i should have spun out, they brought me back in. I love my Falken Azenis RT-615 tires!!!
