So heres the whole story i started my car today, and behind my radio started smoking as well as a fuse which melted. it seems that a wire touched a peace of metal and shorted it out. i cut off the expose piece of wire. and i started my car everything works except my interior dash light and tail lights. i replaced the fuse which was the one that melted and it just blows it instantly. so i followed the wire and its burned all the way from the part that i cut off up and spider webs as it goes. my question is am i going to have to replace the whole harness and if so what is this harness called or is there a way to just bypass the wires. you are an expert and if anybody can give me advice its you please help any suggestions are welcome.

I'm sorry I can't help you out, but I had to tell you that this wins for most laughable title in awhile, kudos.

I edited your thread title to be a bit more paletable although I can understand your intent, just seemed a bit tacky to title the thred int hat way

now your problem, was thie radio install a recent one? is it possible that you grounded to the ilumination circuit instead of the chassis? have you tried unplugging the stereo and replacing fuses and trying the lights with the stereo still unplugged?

i mean it wasnt that recent like a year ago and its been fine. the problem is the melted wire just keeps going and i dont know if im going to replace that wire, or cut it out because it wasnt connected to anything, or just replace the wire. i would rather not replace the harness because thats a another can of worms id rather not deal with. ill take a picture of the wire today and post it so you can see what i mean
