I hear in your region of he sates you have a good amount of autoX/road course? Thats what i have heard for a long time now. How's the import scene out there? Im in Dallas and its a good scene here but duties require me to relocate me to AZ next year. Im just looking for everyone's take on the subject. Is it badass, too damn sunny, sucks like hell, etc..?

LOL @ Stoney - Guilty as charged, Reverend.

Nurv - Phoenix is a kick-a$$ city. More sunny days per year than any other major city. We just passed DFW as the 5th largest metro area in the US. Casual Friday-wear is our uniform all week long, and swimwear is considered appropriate attire in public. Downtown is clean and beautiful. Not the most culturally diverse city in the US but we're improving. The nightlife here is one of the US's best-kept secrets - Mill Ave on Friday night is like Mardi Gras. Home of the Diamondbacks (Bank One Ballpark is kick-a$$, I'm having lunch there today). Spring training for 3 other teams right up the road. Great golf courses (some of the best in the US). 2 hours to snow skiing. 6 hours to the beach. 7 hours to Rocky Point, Mexico. Inexpensive to live here, and plenty to keep you busy and entertained.

The Bondurant School is here, Firebird Raceway (raod courses and 1/4 mile), SpeedWorld (major import 1/4 mile drag track), Phoenix Int'l Raceway (world's fastest oval), and great racing weather.

Hmmm - News to me.

Phoenix is in a valley, so we get what's called an "inversion", wherein the particulates and such get "trapped" in the basin. However, this is a short-lived phenomenon, as the high concentration of concrete and asphalt in the valley holds heat and releases it at night, effectively elevating the cloud into the upper atmosphere where it can be blown away.

Our air is actually far cleaner than several SMALLER cities due to the heat and the constant light breezes coming in from the west.

Allergy sufferers might need to be medicated as we have lots of pollen from the non-native plants (olives, mulberry trees, bermuda grass, etc).

Ok that inversion stuf was what i was talking about, Ive gone to the airport several times on my way to Sun City West and it looks like there is a lot of smoke getting trapped by the mountains. but I guess your right

its 50/50 arguement from locals here. alot of people say the heat is a biatch but so what? i bet its alot better than the damn weather in DFW. at the end of febuary it was solid ICE over the roads. about 5 days before it was about 80, clear skies, and sunny. i mean WTF?! i lived in florida when i was in middle school and it rocked! hopefully i can find somewhere with reliable weather. kinda hard to plan out a race if rain shows up uninvited

BTW. i work for Subaru Parts Dept. here, is there alot of dealerships out there? im looking to stay in parts once im out there next year, i have been in parts for a few years now s, its what i know. any input would be appreciated

Interesting - I was in DFW last August and the heat/humidity was UNBEARABLE. Conversely, when it hit 122 in Phoenix a few years ago, I was out mowing the yard - It's really a different kind of heat when you don't have the moisture. You don't sweat and stink as much.

Imagine opening your oven and standing in front of it - That's what our summers are like. :D

My grandparents don't have grass, the have rocks :)

Ya i guess 100 degrees would feel different when there isn't 50% humidity...
