Hello :gotme
Last summer I repacked both outer CV joints on my 1993 Altima GLE. (~140K miles and the boots were cracked) A couple of weeks ago the driver side axle disengaged. The axle splines came out just enough to disengage from the diferential gears. Flat towed it home. I figured that I may not have gotten it completely back in when I did the CV joints.
I put it back in and I'm sure I got it back in all the way. It didn't go in easily. The other day I jacked it up and checked the axle. It is out ~1/8" to 3/16" after being driven less than 400 miles. The circlip appears to be in very good condition. Help!!

My immediate thought was the c-clip but if you say it's in good condition it should be ok. The only thing I can think of is when you are putting the axel in, the clip isn't setting into place. To check this do the following:

1. Put c-clip on axel, i use some grease to "stick it in place" haha.
2. Push in until it will not push in anymore, lightly.
3. Pull it back about an inch or two and shove it in.
4. This should *lock* it in place. It may take a few tries. If it still comes out, I would replace the C-clip. There could be something else wrong...

Thanks,
After I get it back in again, I may remove the right axle and see how it looks. That's a lot of work, but I think I should be able to see if the clip is in position.
