My drivers side cv boot has a leak and is throwing grease all over the inside of my wheel. Just curious if the entire driveline is covered under the new-ish 10 year/100k mile warranty on the CVT or just the transmission? I was just trying to get an idea of cost before I take it in tomorrow if it isn't covered. Hopefully it's just a leaky boot or seal and nothing major.

anyone with insight is welcome to post!

Thanks!

Just had the car looked at, they are going to have to replace the entire axle, but I didn't realize that the powertrain has a 5 year/60k mile warranty so it will be covered, which is awesome because it would have cost about $600 to replace.

The bad news is that they found that my passenger rear shock is blown, so i'll have to replace both rears. The problem is that the only replacement besides nissan brand is KYB and from the reviews I've been reading they seem hit and miss, anyone tried these?

My car only has 25k miles and has been lowered the past 15k. I accept the fact that it would increase wear, but 15k miles seems a little premature.

thoughts?

It has been my experience that factory shocks are the worst/cheapest available. I've replaced shocks in several vehicles and I've never been happy with factory shocks -- even when buying the upgraded "offroad" or "sport" packages.

Aftermarket Bilsteins have always made me very happy -- but it seems that they don't make them for our Altimas. That sucks!

I could only find KYB and Monroe.

Yeah I love Bilsteins, run them in my BMW's.

If there were bilstein "sports" available for this car I really think they would be a big hit, they are made to run specifically with lowering springs and would be a relatively cheaper option for those not wanting as much of a drop as coilovers and not loose handling characteristics and gain a bumpy ride with just springs. Koni would be sweet as well with their shocks that have adjustable dampening.

Just sucks that there really isn't an option for people that don't want to switch to coilovers, I guess I'm stuck replacing stock shocks every 30k miles. :-/ The car as been out for 5 years now, seems like there should be something by now.

also, where did you find monroe? The dealer told me monroe didn't make any, I would go for those just because the reviews are better for them than the KYB's. Autozone's computer system shows that sachs makes some which would be great as well since I know they make a lot of oem shocks for bmw, but the computer also say that they are unavailable :(
