Anyone care to elaborate on the "axle-back" and "cat-back" exhaust systems? What exactly is the difference?

Thanks.

they are both self exsplanitory axel-back exhausts are only from the axel back (2 feet long?). the cat-back set up is from the cataletic converter back (half the length of the car)

Axle Back: replaces the rear section and muffler, called such because it usually starts at the rear axle and goes to the back of the car. These exhaust systems will change the sound of your exhaust note, but will not change performance characteristics at all.

Cat Back: Replaces the entire exhaust system from the outlet of the catalytic converer all the way to the back of the car. These exhaust systems will often drastically change your exhaust note, and can add small performance gains to your car. These gains are amplified by adding other "breathing" modifications, such as a Cold Air Intake, headers, and high-flow cat.

Axle back exhaust is exactly what it sounds like.. From the rear axle back.

Cat back is the same theory, from the cat converter back.

The Stillen and Tanabe exhausts are axle-back right? Anyone know when AEM is releasing the cat-back exhaust for the V? Is AEM currently the only brand to produce the cat-back?
