aww it wont start!

Well my car was okay till I wanted to go out. I started it and was driving till it turned off on me. No stumble just a quick turn off. I saw a little smoke coming from my steering column. Not much. I knew there was direct sunlight on it when I got in it. I checked the engine bay and nothing was smoking. Push it back home. Today I go see if it turns on and it did for 2 minutes and it turned off. I checked spark plugs and their good. Checked coilpacks and thats good. I looked around and nothing seems out of order. It cranks up but wont hold it. What the hell is wrong with it?

Make sure your getting good spark, check all the plugs, coils, etc. Then check your fuel pump and fuel filter. Really sounds like its either an ignition or fuel problem.

It sounds as if you have a bad ignitor, usually these are the symptoms, but also, make sure when the car won't start that you have spark on all plugs.If so, then check for fuel.Run diagnostics on the ecu and see what codes you get.

can I check the ecu even though it doesnt start? I checked the spark plugs and the gap. Coil packs are good. How can I check my ignitor?

The FSM will show you how to test the ignitor using an OHM meter.But yes, you can pull the codes of the ecu even though the car won't start.Crank the car for about 15 seconds, then read the codes from the ecu.
