ok so I have had my sr for 5 months now and this noise from my valve cover is still persisting. This noise is like a metal/plastic grinding noise (errrrrrrrrrrr) coming from the right side of my valve cover (near the CAS). The noise will only be present at 1100 rpm. It doesn't make noise at any other rpm (higher or lower) Well here is what i have done so far. I looked over everything in the valve cover. no metal shaving or wear on the gears (looks perfect) took out CAS lubed the hell out of it (no difference). Friday i went to JKmotorsports in Greenville NC and they listened to it and he swore that it was a bad water pump. So i changed that out today. (agian no difference).

Does any one have this problem or might have another idea???

Do you have the upper chain guide in? Sits above the timing chain between the cam gears. Might be rubbing on it. I took mine out before I ever even started my sr lol.

Sounds like an exhaust leak. They usually occur at a certain RPM, whatever causes the metal to resonate and rattle. If it happens in neutral, then there is a good chance its an exhaust related problem. Ive had about 5 or 6 since ive had SR's, I just caused another one last night, but my rattle is at 3100 rpm's. May not be your problem, but its the simplest solution to check for.
