hello all, we installed a greddy kit with intercooler a few days ago.it ran fine while we were breaking it in, keeping revs under 3K, now after 50 miles are so we started to get on the throttle some and when it hits about 5K rpm, it makes an awful metal on metal screeching sound, that comes right from the turbo. we checked for shaft play, and there is a lot of shaft play left and right, but not enough for the impeller to rub the sides of the housing. if we keep the revs under 5K, it is completly silent, its just when we start to rev it up high the noise happens.

anyone know if the ball bearing turbos from greddy are supposed to have some shaft play when they are brand new?

if anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated. thanx

My Greddy TD06-20g had nearly 0 shaft play from the box. How is the oil supply to the turbo?

Sure it isnt just the sound of the turbo whistling?

i bet one of your belts are loose. How do you know its coming from the turbo? Do u open up the hood and rev it up at the throttle body and can u hear it directly from the turbo or are u in the car when it happens and you assume its coming from the turbo?
