So I really haven't posted anything about my car for the 4 years that I have been a part of NICO. Anyways, I just picked up a set of Kosei K1 Racing wheels from an awesome seller on an RX7 forum. They are 16x8.5 +37. I know that the offset is kind of high but they fit pretty dang flush. On them are Yokohama Advan A046R 245/45R16 all around. The fronts needed a 5mm spacer, but I could have gotten away with a 3mm one. The rears are a little bit sunken so I might throw on a 10mm spacer later on when I have some extra cash. There is absolutely no rubbing lock to lock and the tires are super grippy. Nice thing about these wheels is that they are super light compared to what I previously had on. I just put them on and I am super stoked to see how these feel when driving compared to the 30 lbs lead weights that I had on before considering that these wheels are just over 16 lbs. Here are some pictures of them on my car. Excuse my dirty car and my FAT wheel gap. I am currently running Eibach Sportlines and KYB-GR2s so bear with me. I am getting coilovers soon and my Q45 brakes are just waiting to be installed.

Nice wheels, man!

I'm looking for cheap 4-lug 5-spoke wheels. I prefer pretty wide spokes, too, as opposed to thinner ones. Either some metallic color or black. What do you recommend?

Cheap? Used Rota P-45 or Slipstreams... or XXR 962. XXR 521's were my second choice if I couldn't find a good used set of Kosei's. I think silver or bronze wheels look good on red cars (your car is red right?). I don't think they can pull of flat or gloss black too well. Or just bite the bullet and find some 5zigen FN0R1-C's. I like those wheels also.

It's red now, but I want to paint it blue or dark blue. Leaning towards black wheels, or silveresque (but nothing as reflective as chrome).

I'll check those out, thanks!

EDIT: Also I'm looking at getting 17" wheels, and a uniform gap around the wheel and wheel-well. I don't like the look of a car dropped as low as most people on here, where the upper part of the well obscures the top of the wheel but leaves space on the sides.

for 5 spoke, you'll probably love the p45s. Theyre under 25 pounds I believe which isn't toooo bad considering the price.

Meh. I have 16x8.5+27 Kosei K1's. I hate them. Awesome wheels, 16's and 240sx don't belong in the same sentence. Tire selection is so piss poor. Can't wait to upgrade back to 17's in ever wider sizes.

What's wrong with the tire selection? I can get Falkens, Potenzas, Yokohamas, and any of the lines of comfort wheels. 16's are the shiznit!

16inch tire size options are sucky, I agree with him.

Well what do you consider good tires? I can get like 60 different tires from Tirerack, about 10 more from Sears and Big O all ranging from Slicks, DOT Approved Slicks, UHP Summer and All Season, and whatever comfort treads I want. I consider good brands to be BFGoodrich, Bridgestone, Falken, Yokohama, Hankook, Hoosier, Nitto... so on so fourth...

I would say that is an uncommon tire size by itself. Between 205s, 225s, and 245s (although pretty limited to DOT slicks) I think 16" tire selection is pretty good. I am not putting down super massive hp numbers so I think for the average 240sx tuner the tire selection is broad enough. Once I go turbo I will go 17x9/10 simply for a wider tire setup.

i have 16x8's currently and agree the tire selection isnt great, needless to say my next wheel selection will be in the 17x9/10 range..

but to the OP, looks pretty good, a little less wheel gap would be a big improvement, but the weight is great!

^^^Sell them off or use as drift spares? Hmmm.... I'm sure some auto-x'er would love them.

Personally, I just hate 45 profile tires with their tall a$$ sidewalls. I preferred to try to stick with 225/45/16's with these for an ever so slight stretch, but unless you were looking at Nexen or Federal, almost every other brand was way more expensive than the same width in 17's...

I've been tempted to pick up some 16s. My rb is spinning these stock 195ers without trying. Maybe ill just save a little longer for some 5Zigens.

I wanted a set of Kosei K1's a loooong time ago. They are a nice set of wheels but decided to get 962's when I saw them on a S14.
