So on my birthday (Monday), I was talking to my dad about my Q because he drove it for about 160,000 miles before I got it. I was talking to him about everything I've done to it and the things I would like to do and said, "The thing that really scares me though is the timing guide issue in those cars, especially since mine has 245k on it". So he said the words I longed to hear, "I had the timing chain and the guides replaced five years ago under warranty." YEssssss!!! So that saves me at least 1200 bucks not to mention a world of worry until the job was done. Glad to know my dad wasn't one of the oblivious ones to this problem. He said though that the dealer at first wasn't very keen on doing the job until my dad showed him a report on the problem. God bless the new guides!

Right on, 5 years is a long time though, dont think this means you never have to keep an eye on it again.

Actually it does. If the "weak link" in the VH45DE engine was repaired (nylon guides) they'd have been replaced with the revised metal guides. So you can rest easy (or just worry about the other 3,000 moving parts).:D
