so the question is ... can you put the rb26 awd into a third gen 240sx?i have heard it can be done and the rear end is no problem. the front end is a dif story. some have told me the suspensions are dif and it cant be done and yet still some have said that it can be done but will take a great deal of welding and effort.

Goodluck. Not only are you going to have too chop the crap out of it and weld it all back up, but then you also have to deal with the Attessa ETS system to control it all. So you need not only an engine harness but you need the rear diff so you can run the hydraulic line to the transmission, you also need the chassis harness and the ECU withe Atessa ECU. If you ask me it is more of pain the *** than it is worth.

Dude I just take a hint when some of the speedshops around here even get rid of the AWD on their GTR's. Not to mention the 4WD light was on in my GTR for like 3 months and the crap worked. Again another pain in the butt.

also there are other things besides getting the mechanical parts of the system in place. like correctly mounting the sensors so the attessa system can actually work. I dont know many of the specifics but there is a reason you dont see awd 240s that often

im only thinking about this project- dont have the money for parts atm. the whole point to this project is to do something DIFFERENT. everyone and there mother has a sr20/rb/kaT 240sx. sure they are nice - dont get me wrong but personaly i would like to have something dif. i dunno in the end it might be to much for me to handle but atm im seriously considering doing this

- any info on how i would go about doing this would be great- no neg comments or putdowns required. thx

dude, you're the one putting down people in this forum/thread by saying that. if everyone has a swap, why even bother? i'd say right now, you fall into the category of "everyone and their mother" who is a dreamer about doing a swap and not doing any headwork on your own.

the LEAST you could've done is googled that one. its nissan's awd system.

don't be a typical 17 yr old dreamer who just got their hands on a 240, read about a swap in sport compact magazine, and make your 10 posts on a forum right before thinking the nissan community hates you. do some research and realize the awd 240 is so unfeasible that its cheaper to just buy a legalized skyline gtr.

i let this one go for a while but its obviously done now.

ReDLiNeDthenBoom its only been sucessfully completed ONCE in the united states, it cost a metric ****ton of money to do it, and a shop completed it. so dont expect to be asking them questions on how its done.

you appear to be in over your head. there is no how to, there is no single person that can answer your questions. only tell you it is NOT EASY AND WILL REQUIRE A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY. you may think "well money is no object" but when you are totaling $15,000 for a damn 240sx that still wont be that spectacular when your done i think you will see why its never been done except for a showcar.

this thread be a locketh.

if you want to have an adult discussion about legitimatley doing this, please wait till you have more knowledge on the subject before posting again. saying things like "3rd gen 240sx" and "what is attesta" gives off the obvious picture to US that you have not done any research, or know what you are in for.
