Took our 2013 Rogue on a 4 hr trip over the Cascade mountains in northern Oregon a couple days ago. White-outs in many places but the car did great. Questions:
- On the packed and icy parts I put it in AWD Lock and turned off the VDC (Traction Control). I thought the vehicle turns off the AWD after you hit around 30 mph, but the light stayed on up to like 45.
- In the manual it says that AWD Lock does a 50/50 split through the TC, but CVTz50 showed it splitting all over the place - 50/50; 70/30; 80/20; etc...
Thanks for your help everyone...

This is one of those "black box" things where nobody really knows how the ABS and AWD evaluate traction and decide how much power to split. Some grody programmer in Hitachi's basement will know the answer to that, but probably no one at Nissan and certainly not us techs. My understanding is that if the system is already in Lock, the AWD makes a software decision about where to cancel it and should drop back into Lock when speed decreases. While in Lock the split will be whatever the ABS and AWD arbitrate based on wheel slip, it won't be fixed at 50/50.

Thanks VStar - as always. "Grody Programmer". Hilarious. I wonder if that's an official job title?
