AWD Light

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

So my AWD light came on in my brand new (less than 30 days, less than 500 miles) 2010 EX35 Journey AWD.

Took it to the shop, 1 week later they've replaced the transfer case, taken the whole car apart, and found it was a loose pin in one of the harnesses.

So, I have a new transfer case and am getting my car back tomorrow.

This makes me mad because it was BRAND NEW when I got it! How is infiniti customer service? I spoke w/ someone at corporate, waiting on their call back.

I really dont trust this new install for the life of the vehicle. Who knows how tight the bolts are, etc (I'm sure its good...just not FACTORY good!)

What do you guys think? Do I have a valid argument here? <30 days, <500 miles, havent even made my second payment!

i see your point but unfortunately these types of things happen. if your dealership is anything like mine, you'll get treated just fine. obviously let the rep at corp know about the situation so that they can note your account but beyond that i really wouldn't worry about it too much.

we had an issue with our car hesitating when we first got ours. not within a month like you but within a few months. they replaced something, forget now and it's never been an issue since.

good luck with it.

Valid argument for what?

You had an issue, they fixed it.

here is my 2cents.I just got my EX on 1/10/2010, brand new 2010 model.I had to call service dept for some minor paint issues, and they were very friendly and helpful!! told me over the phone that's what warrantys are for, I shouldn't have to worry about it at all!! transfer me to the nearest dealership service dept, and they told me to take the car in, they can check it out right away.so for the service dept, they are very nice, friends, no run arounds.nothing to worry about that there.

what I am more concern is about the Quality on the infiniti cars.because I had my lexus for 3 years, I never had to call for service! not even once!!! that is the best warranty service possible, is no warranty services needed!!! but I know it is not possible to have 0% defect rate, but just wondering what's Infiniti's defect rate?

specialist, this is my first infiniti and most certainly will be my last. sure, they fixed the problem, but out of the factory almost the car is defective! that never happened with any of mine or my parents cars (BMW) and happened once with their Chevy's.

Chevy my dad said it happened once but they replaced his blazer with a tahoe, no increase of payments, because their customer service was so great!!

Go get a Chevy. They're far from perfect.

Mercedes-Benz, yes (except the C-Class).. BMW? They make good cars but they have their issues, BMW is no better than Infiniti in my opinion, coming from many family owned BMW's (X3, M3, M5, 6-Series). In the end, you are paying for the name and showing off that you can waste money with pride and joy. Infiniti has its own problems, again so do many other automakers and you wouldn't know until you owned one and ran into them personally even after hearing about them. Cars these days are so high-tech and run on many different sensors, one depending on another. End of the day, all cars have problems, just some way earlier and worse than others. That's all and fine with me as long as the dealers can repair them without tearing the vehicle apart and putting it back together like a GM car.

...Just my personal opinion, but cars should give a person satisfaction for their hard work, not a hard time.

look, sometimes things just happen. our 07 335 was in the shop a total of 19 times in 2.5 years. they finally purchased it back last month.

does it negate the fact that your situation sucks balls? of course not, i would be upset as well but at the same time whether it happened within the first month or the last month, they still took care of you which to me is the most important part. everyone makes mistakes, it's all about how you own up to them.

going back to bmw, just search HPFP for any recent bmw made within the past 3-4 years....yikes!

That's interesting view. Isn't the factory mistake took you to the dealer at the first place?

Interesting point of view

Don't get me wrong, I love the car...but within 4 or 500 miles, do you know what I mean? I'm not bashing infiniti by any means, I just am a little frustrated, as you guys have to understand and want my car back!!

Nah I understand what you mean. It is frustrating to say the least. However it is unusuall with Infiniti. It happenes sometimes it just sucks when it happenes to you.

Hope you'll have a good experience from now on.

I think this is the first I heard any issue with the ATTESA AWD system. It is one of the most reliable system on the market.

Yes

interesting point of view

My cousin works at BMW as a Certified Mechanic. I was looking at BMW 335 and the 135i , one thing he told me was, stay away from them. He could not believe how many warranty works and defect he sees everyday. Did you see how many problems on a new 135i ?
