AWD emblem badge on an EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

After searching many online parts, I setteled on an AWD emblem badge from Nissan. The typeface matched the Infiniti style better than any other, though Volvo was a close second. Subaru is too recognizable, and the kind you find on trucks too too cheesy. The eBay auction I got this from said it was an OEM part for a Juke. It came in a holder so it was easy to put on perfectly spaced (kerned) and aligned. It also came with adhesive backing.

I also got one of these AWD tow warnings. You can only really see it if you walk up to the car and look down into the wiper cavity where the VIN is. It's actually down behind the hood.

So now everyone on the road will know it's an AWD that passed them . . . :chuckle:
Also it always looks better in the mountains. I drive in areas that require AWD or snow chains a lot.

That emblem looks perfect. I checked ebay and amazon and couldn't find one that looked that good. I guess I'll keep checking.

I did get the decal and put it in exactly the same place you did. Hopefully, anyone wanting to tow my car will check the VIN first.

How do you know if you have AWD or not?

Why do you suppose Infiniti does not use the small x to signify AWD EX35 models as it does on the rest of its cars?

I would think because EX35X or FX35X would sound cheesy as heck.
G37X or M37X for example sounds much better.

Probably because you paid extra for that option when you bought the car or...

1. It's on your registration and therefore state and county tax information.
2. There is some way to determine the model through the VIN number. I'm sure any Infiniti dealer could look up your VIN and tell you. For that matter, Carfax also probably knows.
3. You can feel it engage when you drive up slippery muddy or icy slopes. These cars also have traction control where it limits the power when it senses the wheels slipping. That is different and all models have that.
4. There might be some way to see the extra transmission (?) by looking under the hood or under the car, but I am not sure about that.

But if you don't know if you have it, you probably don't since it's something like $2k (?) extra.

Interesting. I bought mine used a few months ago didn't really pay much attention to wether it was AWD or not since we don't really need it much here.

If you purchased an EX35 AWD Journey then nothing else needs to be said. Why would you cheapen the vehicle with a symbol that no other EX 35 has? The EX 35 AWD Journey does not need cheap advisement like a Chevy Tahoe that needs reminding it has 4 wheel drive / AWD. The EX35 is an excellent driving machine that is under rated!!!

By the way if you go to this site and type in your VIN number it will decode it for you and tell you if you have AWD and many other interesting stuff.

I believe there is an AWD indicator light on the dash that lights up with everything else when you start the car. The only other time it lights up is to indicate a malfunction.

He's got more of them: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0778065230

MURANO AWD EMBLEM 2009-2012 OEM NISSAN

Part number 90896-1AA0B

Also, that VIN number decoding site posted above didn't work for me, but this one did: www.vindecoder.net .

It says: Driveline: 4-Wheel Drive
