i saw a couple forums say that later on in 2008 the Altima coupe will be available in AWD and one guy said he talked to a Nissan dealership and they told him the SE-R Altima Coupe will be an AWD. i'm not sure how credible they are though. has anyone else heard of the possibility that there might be some AWD A/C in the future?

I heard that SE-R maybe be coming out for the coupe, but I don't think it will be for atleast another yr. If it does come out within a yr, I'm gonna kick myself for not waiting

Can't be sure though, maybe it is true..........maybe not. I asked a Nissan dealership about the Altima coupe when it was just rumors and had no clue about it. I pray the AWD will be real.

IF, and I stress IF they make a AWD Altima, you would be better off trading your ride in for the AWD version. If you just got your 3.5, would not be worth the money to convert, unless you know somebody who could convert the engine for you. Grant it you would have to pay for the engine, but cut the labor cost.

An AWD coupe would be too much competition for the g35/g37 and 350Z, I'd doubt they would make that...

ya you do have a point and normally i'd suggest the same thing but my dad bought my car cash for me and i have no payments and i wouldn't have the money to trade it in and not have to do payments. by the time i save up that kind of cash, my car would have depreciated like crazy..... but that's all in the future and IF they really do make it in an AWD.

one article that said it was from the NY times and it said

"For their part, Nissan officials insist there are clear differences between the brands. Their lineup has just two vehicles with similar architecture, the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56, both big S.U.V.’s. The Altima Coupe is a front-wheel-drive car; the G35 is rear-wheel drive (though both will be available in all-wheel drive)."

another was from G20.net but this one seems less credible

"while i was at local nissan dealership here in san antonio with my nx getting service on my sentra se-r when the manager comes up to me and asks me if i wanna sell my nx. how about no for 500 jason? anyway, i peeped the new 07 altima coupe with the 3.5L and ask him. Is there a se-r model altima coupe coming out anytime soon? i loved the next words out his mouth.

Why yes! its coming out in 2007 its going to be 307hp AWD 6spd luxurious like the g35 and sporty like the 350Z with seating for 4. price range will be 30-35K.

sh*t an AWD altima with the same motor as the 350 and G35?? im glad im joining the military because that car is MINE!!!

what do yall think? altima se-r coupe yay or nay? (will find pictures asap)"

but i guess we'll just have to wait and see

I would say yay if they beef up the Altima from stock, I mean the last gen altima which I have only pumped out 10 more horsepower. But it really did'nt mean jack because the se-r Altima gained weight............so nothing gained. Would have to wait and see what unfolds, performance, AWD, who knows?

ya i heard something about a convertible before too. both would be good but i'm not sure if the SE-R will be an AWD or not, but i'm hoping it is lol they had the SE-R in the previous Altima's so i don't see why they wouldn't in the new ones and SE-R is more performance orientated and the coupe is more performance then the sedan so i'd expect the next SE-R to be a coupe. convertible is to compete with the 2 door Camry AKA Solara.

Pretty sure there will be SE-R version, it's the AWD rumor that has my brain going. And this article here that you posted.....article that said it was from the NY times and it said the Altima Coupe is a front-wheel-drive car; the G35 is rear-wheel drive (though both will be available in all-wheel drive)."

some people are saying that the wording is unclear and maybe they meant both G35's (sedan and coupe) will be available in AWD. but there is a possibility they could have been talking about the A/C too. it seems like now days everyone is wanting AWD. if the SE-R is an AWD if course they'll bump up the horsepower a little bit and if they bump it up to 300 (30 more horsepower), it'll be like the new Evo X with 300 horsepower but i'm sure the Evo will have more torque. an AWD A/C would have excellent handling and improve all Altima sales... the 350Z or 370Z will be a RWD so people could drift with and the G37 will be a sporty luxury car. i'm sure things may overlap here and there but i'm not Nissan and don't know if they're thinking of it that way or these other people are just saying BS.... i'm hoping these rumors are true though

IF, and I mean IF an SE-R version is realeased, I can almost guarantee that it will not be until the last couple of years of the current model Altima. In all my years of owning Nissan's, I noticed that they always save the best for last. Reason being, to boost sales. Imagine how many Altima's will be on the road by 2010. And imagine technology being what it is, and how much more advanced car makers will be producing cars. Then, and only then, will Nissan come out with an SE-R version just to keep up with the other cars in its class. Nissan would use the SE-R badge to keep selling Altima's until the release of the next gen Altima.

AWD Altima? Uhh...NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!! Why? Because Nissan needs to distinguish their cars by class. The GT-R will be here soon and that's going to be AWD. If any other car in the Nissan fam gets AWD, it'll definitely be the next generation Z. Not gonna happen in a Nissan family coupe/sedan. PERIOD.

normally yes Nissan would wait for the SE-R (like they did with the last body style) BUT the 2007 Nissan Sentra came with the SE-R the 1st year of production. they released the Sentra and later in 2007 they released the SE-R. we just bought our A/C in 2007, maybe in the middle of 2008 they will release an SE-R. i don't see why they wouldn't make an SE-R, i mean they had it in the last gen altima and they have it in the sentra.

AWD part, that's a rumor i heard the other day and i'm trying to see if anyone else has heard of this... the Z has been known as a rear wheel drive car and i doubt Nissan would change that. plus the Z is Nissan's 2 seater sports car and i'm sure that many people would just buy the AWD Z and twin turbo it and it has no back seat so it would be more like a race car then the GT-R (not to mention my local dealer said they'd sell the GT-R for $100,000 when they get it lol).

i dont think they will make an Se-r period. the altima coupe is your Se-r they came out with it a year after the sedan, the only change they might do is make the last year of the 4th gen altima sale a nismo altima, like they did with the Z

If you know the history of Nissan's, the SE-R badge was used exclusively for the Sentra. Only until the 05 and 06 model years, has Nissan stuck that label onto any other car in their lineup. Why? Again, to boost sagging Altima sales. If there is going to be an SE-R Altima again, it will be in the last remaining years of this gen.

The Sentra was/is always going to be known as the original SE-R. I had a 94 with the beloved SR20DE motor which found it's way into so many other cars, and still is til this day. I'm pretty sure Nissan will not use that badge again, unless sales start sagging.

That would be sweet, as the SE-R Altima Coupe.

No regrets even if they come out Spring '08 because of Pricing, I would just go with Acura RDX..Turbo + SH-AWD!
