So I'm about to do my first oil change at 6000km and I'm wondering if I should get them to rotate my tires and throw my spare tire in the mix to keep the treads as close as possible to the others so I can actually use it as a tire and not a crutch to get me somewhere. Incase you don't know what I'm talking about I was told your not supposed to use your full size brand spanking new tire with a matching rim as a full time replacement because it will muck up the AWD system. Instead you have to buy ALL new tires....

I could see why you would want to do that but, wouldn't the Spare tire mess up the rotation anyways if you gonna throw it in now?
I Under stand the low mileage on the Rogue right now but, I think it's still gonna mess up the rotation each way you do it.

In general (not specific to the Rogue) you can certainly rotate a spare in and out. It won't "mess up" anything to have a spare in the rotation.

I can't speak to the AWD concern though.

300winmag,

The only issue that could arise is if the tires are dramatically different in diameter due to wear. This will confuse both the VDC, ABS and AWD systems. Proper tire rotation including the spare in the mix will avoid that. Use the forward cross method (the AWD Rogue operates in FWD most of the time so treat it that way):

Your only problem now will be the TPMS system. The spare does not have a TPMS sensor so you will get a warning light.

Oh, for our American friends:

Certain Canada spec Rogues came with full size spare tires. This was never offered on US models.

Thanks philipa_240sx. I was wondering why my American Rogue received the donut spare tire. Makes sense.

I don't think adding the spare tire to the rotation is a good idea. It won't increase the life time of the four wheels too much and when you decided to change your tires, are you going to purchase five?

I prefer to have a thin spare tire rather than a full one. I really liked the organizer under the floor carpet. With the full spare tire, All you can do is put your rags etc inside the rim. Then it causes noise. When you have a flat tire, you can use the spare tire to reach the closest service, why do I need to use a full size wheel with allow rims??

I also prefer adjustable head rests (oh sorry, we have just two proper-ish headrests) at the rear seats, than having that spare tire...

or I prefer a little bit more powerful rear speakers (at least same with the front ones)..in order to hear something from the rear speakers, I need to give the %90 of the sound to the rear with the fader on the radio.

I'm not doing it to increase the life of the other tires, I'm doing it so I can use it as a full time spare and not limp to the gas station and wait to get 4 new tires put on. I want the treads to be as close as possible to the others. I hate doughnuts.

I don't have that problem with my stereo... bad wiring?

I have a question about this too. Does the 2015 Nissan Rogue SV AWD Premium Package come with a full sized spare or a donut?

Also, is it ok to put a screen protector to protect the navigation screen, like an ipad screen protector and is it ok to use eyeglass solution to clean it? will it scratch it? holy goodness, my family member did that without my permission and that person scratched the screen and the plastic inside? is ther anything you can sprray on the dash/navi screen/ and the plastic inside to REPEL dust and get rid of dust? thanks. and is it ok for the spare to get wet, or does that make the spare rot and does the spare not last as long in an SUV because it's more exposed than in the darkness of a sedan trunk where' it's shut out from the sunlight, and also does stuff get more hot in an SUV trUnk than a sedan trunk? id think so in the summer since it's exposed to the light outside whereas a sedan trunk is totallhy dark. any merit to this and would covering up items like groceries with a LIGHT colored towel solve this issue with SUVs or wagons or hatchbacks, or any vehicle without a "real trunk?" Thanks.

this is not the thread for screen protector. find an existing thread, or make a new one.
