I figured I'd get the correct answer from the very knowledgeable users on this site. IN the manual, in regards to AWD, it says not to enable the AWD lock when backing up or while turning. My question is this, can I be parked and hit AWD Lock then put my car in reverse? Are they saying I shouldn't hit AWD Lock when actually backing up (moving)? Just wanting to see if it's okay to put AWD Lock on, back out of a snow covered driveway, put it in drive and continue on my way or not.

Thanks,
Juelze

The manual states: "When driving straight, shift the AWD LOCK switch to AUTO. Do not operate the AWD LOCK switch when making a turn or backing up."

The way I read it: "when" refers to not pushing the AWD Lock button while you're backing up or making a turn. It's OK to press the AWD Lock button when driving forward in a straight line or while the vehicle is stationary.

Yup, that's the way I read it.

So Juelze, to specifically answer your question about your scenario where you want to back out of the driveway in AWD lock when it's snowing, just switch to AWD lock while you're still in Park, then put the vehicle into Reverse and you'll be fine.
