My G35 came with 225/55/17 Goodyear Eagle RS-A's

I'm thinking about replacing them in about 5-10 k miles and thinking about Avon M500 235/45/17

Anyone have these tires?

Anyone running these size tires on a 07 G35?

Thanks,

Jeff

The Avon M500's are very inexpensive, but good tires, from what I understand. Definitely way better than the Goodyear RS-A - which I consider a very mediocre tire ... expensive too!

The Avon M500 is not the best for everything, but the price is excellent ... I have been thinking of trying them on my wife's Acura CL and my Infiniti M45.

I checked it on tirerack they rated pretty good. I honestly did not know much about these tires. Price seems to be really good. I think it worth to try. If you go with this tire please let us know how it turns out.

Thanks and good luck.

Unless I hear some horror stories about them I probably will. I live in Phoenix so the car only sees rain about once a year. The Goodyears should be used up in about 10,000 miles or so probably spring of next year.

What do you guys think about the size?? Dropping the aspect ratio from 55 - 45 should help the car accelerate quicker and going up in width from 225 - 235 should help cornering and starting traction. I know sometimes the ABS gets confused when you change tires sizes. I'd like to hear someone else is running the same size before I try it.

I have a set of 275/40/17 Nitto 555RII's left over from my Hemi ram I may try them out on the back for a little while if I can find a set of spare rims.

Ummm .... I don't think you will see much difference in acceleration really as long as you keep the overall diameter about the same. The cornering and traction will be helped by the tire stickiness (i.e., something better than the RS-A). The width upgrade is minor enough that this will not be a factor really.

In terms of whether 235/45 is better than 225/55, keep in mind that, depending on the width of your rim, a 245/45 might be a better match for the overall rolling diameter - might want to check that out. More tires available in the 245/45-17 size too.

Note that your rims need to be at least 7.5" wide to handle the 245/45-17 ... for safety reasons.

Also, as long as you use the same size tire front and back (basically the same overall rolling diameter), you will avoid any ABS issue, by the way.

The Avon M500's are AA traction the Goodyears are A so an improvment there maybe.

What you look at is overall tire height mounted... the Goodyears are 26.8" tall and the Avon's are 25.3" tall. The 5.6% reduction in overall tire/wheel height would have a similar effect as a 5.6% increase in gear ratio.

My Hemi Ram picked up almost half a second in the quarter going from 285/60/18's (31.5" tall) to 295/45/18's (28.5" tall). Traction was still an issue so I ended up with 325/45/17 drag radials (28" tall). I don't think the change would be as drastic on the G but at least a tenth of a second to 60 is possible.

I don't think that size will be an issue I changed my tires from a 215/55/17 the stock size on my 2005 G35 sedan to a 225/45/17. You may want to chek out a tire size calculator online to get an idea if it will be close to the same rolling diameter.

Try this link http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

I used it for info. It might help I went with the Fuzion ZRI Tire it is a decent tire for the price.

somebody else here recommended the Avon M500's to me when I posted for recommendations. I am leaning toward the yoko avids, but will call around on the Avon's before deciding. I want something more of a DD that can handle rain, but is also somewhat of a 'performance' tire.

I have the RS-A's on one of my G's. I think they've been pretty good, but would like to get something less pricy that will last longer.
