Hey all,

I'm in the process of purchasing a '96 240 with an automatic transmission. I will be doing a 5 speed swap. However, after spending numerous hours researching, I have found that I will be able to start the car without engaging the clutch. To be honest, the idea of that bothers me. Is there anyway to install the factory clutch engagement/start up switch to avoid my car lurching if I happened to start the car in gear?

Any information you can provide me with is greatly appreciated.

You have to swap the dash harness to a five speed.

On my 93, the safety was disengaged 3 days after I bought the car, pushing the clutch in when you start the car seemed automatic to me, so it was never a problem- I've heard of them being defeated, but never added....
