I am about ready to explode. I had to take a break or I was gonna throw something through the window of this car (which doesnt happen to belong to me, so thatd be bad).

As most of you know I was working on Ross's Q for a while (hopefully to rid myself of it very soon).. he bought a rebuilt AC compressor from ebay.. I figure, OK whatever.. IF it works for a year for $100, how bad can it be.

So heres why you dont want one.

1. It doesnt come with an OEM connector. You have to splice it in yourself (the signal wire for the compressor clutch).

2. The pulley was 2in smaller in circumference which means it is a little more than 1/2 in smaller in diameter... I tried different size belts and the next size belt down was too small, i couldnt even get it on the compressor. The later compressors come with even bigger pullies so this wasnt even from a Q45 even though it was listed as such.

3. The belt was tight enough so I figured i would tighten it a little bit more, mainly because it was squealing a little bit.. However, this broke the AC compressor tensioner (retarded soft aluminum vs the the nice steel they use on the others), so now the entire bracket has to be replaced, at $340 for new and who knows how much for used.

Even with the AC hooked up and charged with Freeze 12 the thing didnt work (i dont blame it on freeze 12 at all, because ive used it in other places with good results)... Im guessing that the compressor that we thankfully saved is still good and something else is wrong with the AC. What that could be I am not sure right now.

BOTTOM LINE: Ebay is a great tool sometimes, but you cant buy everything from there. This garbage is costing me my reputation among Q45's and their owners. While I may have made a mistake along the way, having the right parts would have eliminated a lot of potential hard aches.

Can you mention the ebay id of the seller or the aftermarket AC compressor brand please.

Thanks
