gotcha, good luck man I hope it all works out, as far as the paint goes I kinda have a hookup and could get high quality for a grand...just need that grand for other things at the moment.

Yes, some Y34's have had major consumption issues, but most have not required huge amounts of additional oil. It is good to read that Y34's with 120,000 miles+ are holding up well. I kinda figured they would as the Y34 is mostly a pre Renault Purchase of Nissan Design.

While newer Infiniti's certainly have been critically acclaimed, the new Owner's CEO Carlos Ghosn is known as Le Cost Cutter and there have been many references to build quality being reduced.

The Y34 is such a strange bird in that it has the Body and Chassis of the JDM Cedric/Gloria with the post Renault 4.5 V8 and shares most controls and technology with the F50 (2002-2006) Q45. Truly a unique car as no other World Market got the combination that we did.

I really love that our Cars have the option of Laser Guided Cruise Control, Heated/Cooled Seats, a good Navigation System, and Voice Recognition. Honestly, the available feature set is still up to date with most current cars. I really like that you can input a Telephone Number and often get directions.Cheers,ML
Of course most performance based engines burn oil. My '88 Mx-6 burns 1qt/1000 miles. Thats excessive but the car lays down rubber to 85mph, i think i can deal with the 1qt per 1k The only concern i have with the VK45DE using oil are the precats. Precats hate oil, and get overheated when oil is forced through them. I just don't want to deal with a P0421/P0431 Catalyst below threshold code, and these cars are CAN cars, which means that you can't put a non fouler in and call it a day, you'll trigger 10 more codes doing that.

The Y34 is truly an underrated car, it stands out in the way it looks, fit n finish, and the options it has. I'm completely sold on the idea of owning one, I'm just so picky that I may be looking for another 6 months

Dont need to worry about burn oil issue. u should be able to find some good used example Y34 burn less then 1 quart in between oil change like mine did. oh i change my oil 5000 miles and I can guarantee i prob burn even less if i change myh oil 3000 miles. my car is 141k on original engine. I used AMSOIL 7500 miles so I didnt want to change to early. keep in mind, using BEST sythtic oil is the key to this engine as well as the best fuel available on the market as possible like (CHEVRON, SHELL etc..) cause they have add some additives to their gas which help clean the engine at the same time.

Hello,I highly recommend finding one that has the Infiniti Elite Warranty. This Warranty covers the Nav System and Audio System which is not covered by the standard Infiniti Extended Warranty. Also, the Elite Warranty is fully transferrable. Moreover, I would view it essential to find one with a complete service history. And lacking that, definitely spending 60 Dollars or so to have an Infiniti Dealer do a PPI (pre purchase inspection) I would do that regardless actually on any M45 you are interested in.

I really think you will love the car. I adore mine and truly have no desire for another car. It has such a unique body style that I do not think it looks dated in the slightest. From certain angles, it sorta kinda looks like the new Challenger.

Again, I would seek out a 2004 with the Technology Package. Having Navigation is great and I really do like the system in the 2003-2004. Laser Guided Cruise Control (ICC) is handy too, but can be switched off as well. Only thing I do not like about the ICC is the following distances are far longer than I think necessary.

When I purchased mine, I had the choice of a Brand New 2006 G35 6MT Base Model with Moonroof or the Desert Platinum 2004 M45 I purchased. Both were the same price out the door. In truth had the dealer had more than 1 2006 G35 left, I might have gone that way. The problem was the 6MT G35 was Serengetti Sand (Gold) Color which I really did not care for.

The M45's interior just felt so much nicer than the Base Model G. And the Cooled Seats and higher quality Leather (Sojourner Leather which is from Italy) really added to the ambience.Cheers,ML

I am 110% totally agreed with u on this one. this body style only sold roughly over 7000 units 2003-2004. 2003 6353 and 2004 1690 just to be exact. U get a car that noone else really have on the road when u go shopping I am pretty sure u will not have problem finding ur car. By the way, I am in SO CALI. Y34 are rare in SO cal, I cant imagine rest of the country. By the way good infos, I did not know Sojorner leather is from Italy which I like it so much better then most Japanese leathers. I had other INFINITI vehicles in the past and their leather not as reliable compared to this one. This one require less effort to take care compared to my previous cars. my leather still i great shape without much work.

Hello,With the release of the F50 Q45, there were a litany of Reviews due to the total redesign of the car compared to the Y33 Q45. In these Reviews they made many references to the "Sojourner" Leather in the Q45 as part of the ways in which the F50 was a legitimate luxury contender.

Considering that the FY33 (1997-2001) Q45 really was not a purpose built flagship as the original G50 Q45 was, the F50 really did represent an attempt at regaining status of the G50. Sadly sales in America did not follow, but the Model is still available in Japan last I looked. The FY33 was a rebadged Cima with a less potent, smaller V8 than the G50 and less sophisticated suspension.

Ironically, the F50/Y34 share almost an identical chassis to the FY33 (LFR: large, front engine, rear drive) with a redesigned rear suspension, but still using Struts up front. It really seems this Platform is what caused the lukewarm reception amongst Automotive Reviewers. The Drivetrain truly was state of the art in 2002 as were the technologies offered. The amenities offered really make our now 6 or 7 year old Cars still fully up to date in terms of features.Cheers,ML
