Hey gang, just found the Avic D3 on sale , low prices ranging around $570 - $590.... If anyone wants to purchase, I can post a walk through for the install.... I just finished installing my AVIC D3, rear view camera, CD-BTB200, and GEX-P10XMT Nav Traffic unit for the D3...

wiring is a bit tricky, especially for the VSS (vehicle speed signal), but I took my car apart and put it back together no problem... let me know if anyone is interested in the write-up!

wow... thats what the dash of my stang looked like when someone stole the alpine/airconditioner out my dash!

The kicker was they smashed the back windshield and climed thru the broken window (ripped clothing left on glass l

You have a gigantic set of balls to attempt this on your own... just looking at that picture makes me sweat

many of those online merchants with great prices for the d3 are scams or have terrible reviews. do some research on the merchant before you order from any of them.

I thought I was pretty lucky getting my d3 for $725 with the ipod integration wire off ebay, the seller had a high rating and was on my door step in 5 business days with paypal, standard delivery, and he was in Seattle, WA and I'm in Birmingham, AL.

hey rjdmmfl1 does it seem like the metra kit pops out a little bit on the sides to you, or does your defrost buttons get stuck, I've been noticing it with mine, it's like the d3 is weighing it down.

no, my metra kit seems to fit perfectly.. after reading MBC's writeup, i was checking for that... but mine fits fine... Also, I have the dash kit over it, so if it did, you would probably not really notice it... The only thing I can think of, if your kit is sticking out, is that your installer may have snapped one of the prices that snap in place... I've seen that happen before... a simple look at your kit (after removing it) would answer that one for you

OK, so the total install took about..... 10 hours... but that's because i was testing out a few things and also, I ran extra wiring for montiors and what not... you want to be very careful when removing each part, and you want to remember where each screw goes, so keeping things together will help... I will do the writeup this evening and have it posted by tomorrow... However, I must warn that I have installed a number of stereos, nav units, and TV's in my day, so if this is your very first time doing any of this, I would highly suggest getting a professional to do it... the slightest mishap, and you'll be in trouble... but once again, I did the install with no problems, I just took bits and pieces from a numb er of different forums!!

Some of those vendors look mighty sketchy- especially that 86th street photo place. I googled their phone # and found some bad reviews... Which vendor did you chose?
