I just bought a 1990 240 with the ka24e and was wondering what the average time on the swap for the SR20det? If anyone has a general time frame that would be great thanks.

I've run over a month by just a few days. But today I got her crankin' over. The only reason I think it's not starting is cuz I flooded it so I'm waiting until tomorrow 2 try again.

It all depends on how clean you want your swap to be done and if you want nice parts and good fitment, you have to take your time.

order everything at once. That's what slowed me down, too much waiting.

Yeah, if you know what your doing it can be done in a day. I have had a KA out of a car in about 30-40 minutes. If its your first time you should allow several weeks to do the swap, as you will run into little problems here and there. You will get to know the guys at the parts store well if you dont already. The actually swap isnt that time consuming, its the wiring part that can take a few minutes if you do it right! And if you put the engine in the car with the rubber engine mounts in the car and the metal mounts on the engine, get your self a ratchting 14mm wrench.

I just sent my harness out to be serviced & spliced. Everything fell into place. The hardest part was tuning the power fc!

Depends on how much time you have and how much experience you have had with motor swaps, It took me a year to do a ka replacement swap.

Where did you send your harness to, and how much did it cost? And how long did it take for them to splice it and everything?

Personally I thinkt he best way to do a swap after seeing a friend do his is wait until you have all of your parts and then start the swap. This is because shipping time is what will turn a 2 day swap into a 2 week swap. I've heard of people buying a motor and having it sit for weeks as they got the rest of their required parts assembled. When I do my swap I think I'm going to order all of the required parts and do a minor build on my motor and prepare to swap it so that I can minimalize the time my car's off the road.

I would keep the kA if i could find a good turbo kit and intake for it but would rather spend a little more money and get the sR to get that extra power. Ill post pics of the new paint on the kA motor as soon as i can find my camera.

A day tops if you have everything. Hell it took me and a friend 1 week to due are first SR swap, and a RHD conversion at the same time. While still in highschool. Now I can do them with my eyes closed.

10 minutes to drop the motor in. Depending on the motor an chassis, the wiring is the longest. I spent a good 6 hours on my wiring and I'm still not done.

8 months for me and counting.I'm still trying to get mine running, of course I rarely work on it during school time so it really comes down to how much time you have to put into it.

12 Hours to remove the KA and install completely stock SR and get it running. Thats w/o a 3 day wait for the wiring harness to be done.

Total work time sent me around 20 hours and that was with some help. You need to be ready to fork out money for the little things that come along. It gets expensive!!

i've been collecting parts for a while now, getting the ka out if u dont have the tools and money can be hard too. I've finally gotten my ka out, and my cars been sittin in the back yard since august with no motor now im waitin to get the money for my motor. So i would say if u dont have the money it takes a while...but if u actually have the motor and swapping it shouldnt take that long maybe like 2 days at the most a week if you dont have experience.

i did it in about 12 hours, with a helper. wiring was really easy, i used the frsports or whatever wiring guide and it gives you a step by step on how to do it, reeeeally simple.. it's the little stuff that will get you. i didnt buy everything at once, and that made life alittle difficult

A year and a month for me so far.

But I'm in school and on a pretty tight budget. I'm waiting for May so that I can build the motor and get it 100% done the way I want it.
