Well my stepmoms '96 thunderbird was due in to smog yesterday, but it had a check engine light because of a bad O2 sensor, amid other misc stuff, and also the cat was clogged to sh1t. Now, my question is, did my dad get ripped off? They charged him $1000 for the cat alone, no labor. I can't believe they are THAT expensive.

:owned He should go back and start something with the owner, that's crazy.

I have high-flow cats (all sizes) for $100 shipped, anywhere in the US.

Well, it wasn't AS bad as I thought before. Car came back today, drives like it did 45K miles ago. The Cat turned out to *only* be $450 w/ labor, but my dad said something about 4 different O2 sensors, which doesnt make sense to me....well, $1300 for O2 sensor(s?), cat, labor, tune up and oil change. Sucks since the car is burning oil, i put 3 qts in it about 500 miles ago : \
