Since the day I bought the car, I was monitoring the average fuel consumption for 100 km's. So at first it was 16.5lt/100km, than in about two-three day, it became lower and lower. It was fun to watch it decrease (and see the increase in the fuel efficiency). But the changes were 0.1lt in about two or three days. When I drive on the highway for 20 minutes, and I am lucky, than I dropped it down by 0.2 lts.

Then one day I bought gas and while resetting the trip odometer, I mixed the knobs and pushed the knob on the right and I reset all my data from the day I bought the car (the total distance, time, average consumption... :frown: )..After that, the average fuel consumption indicator started to update every 4-5 minutes!

Is it normal? When I am waiting at the red light or traffic, the consumption increases from 11.8 to 11.9 and 12.0 :) in minutes!

If that is normal, and all of your Rogue's are like that, so what was it before I reset the computer??

Think about what the word average means. With more and more history it takes greater changes to affect the average. With very little history the average is easily influenced.

I know what an average means but the method the car computer calculates the average changed after I reset it. Before I pushed the right knob and reset, it calculated the average in every hour..now it calculates in 5 minutes.

It doesn't calculate, it changes.
With a lot of kms, changes are slow to show.
After a reset, any small increment may show a overall change.

That is just math.

:tisk: an "average" is definitely a "calculation". If the car is consuming X lts at point A and Y lts at Point B, than the average is X+Y/2. Basic Math.

And this calculation is intended to give driver an idea about his consumption average. It says "if you will continue to drive like this, your average fuel consumption for 100 kms will be XXlts." Because it "calculates"...

When I first bought the car, it calculates (or update its calculation results) every 1 or 2 hours, not the Kms (it decreased 0.1 lt in 2-3 days!).Than it becomes very 5-6 minutes (now at the red light it decreases 0.1 lt).

You're misunderstanding how it works.

The Rogue's MPG display is not a live calculation...it's an average based on from the moment you hit the reset button, and continues from that average going forward. So the longer you drive without resetting, the longer it bases the average on, and the less likely the number is to change.

When you reset the button, the average starts from that window. So the number changes more frequently (due to stop-start mileage, hills vs decent, etc) until it has a longer average.

It's not doing an individual read every time you see the number change.
