Sorry if either of these questions are repeats, I searched and didn't really find the info I was looking for. I have an A'PEXi AVC-R for my car which is a '95 240SX with an S13 SR20DET. I'm trying to get the unit to raise the boost to 12 PSI ~ .85 kg/cm2. So I first off set the Boost/Duty settings to .85 kg/cm2 for boost and around 58% for duty. It was doing pretty good at hitting 12 PSI sometimes going a little over. It then went into self-learning mode which is good but my question is how long does it usually take to complete self learning? I can only drive the car on the weekends and I have for the past 2 weekends but it hasn't finished self learning yet. Is there a particular way that I should drive it to get it to finish self learning?

Second, I'm pretty sure that if I disconnect my BOV (which is the stock one that comes with the stock side mount intercooler) from going into the intake I will have idling problems. First, is this correct? Second, is there a way to fix this without re-programming anything?

Thanks in advance everyone and sorry for the length.

Why are you disconnecting the BOV, do you have an aftermarket one? If so then your idle might have trouble because its prob an atmosheric BOV, and air that the maf is reading isn't getting into the engine. There should be know idle problem is you disconnect the stock BOV, just dont be running your car without one, If your car is having this idle prob, get an SAFC or something like that, and for the time being just tap the gas when you let it out of gear right when the rpm's start to drop.

yea the BOV thing isn't really that important I just wanted to disconnect it because I like the sound of BOVs that discharge into the atmosphere. I won't worry about it though for the time being. Thanks.

Anyone with the AVC-R stuff?

When i was using one on my WRX it only took about 5 mins of driving for it to learn, the major problem with the piggy back units like that was the fact your ECU learns around it, you AVC-R stops learning after you give it a good 1st 2nd 3rd gear pull and the Duty goes from "58%" to "**" after that the AVCR is done learning it has set itself. why things start changeing after driving there are a few reasons 1st the ECU starts learning that there is something foreign here and starts doing some "retarding" to compansate, 2nd temperature, gas and many other variable play into why the boost may go above or never reach the certian level you set it, the duty will only "self learn" up to 2% i believe so if you set it at 58% then go and self learn it 1-2-3 gear you will have either 56-57-58-59-60% duty cycle, which still may be to high or too low to reach and hold your desired boost level. Mine used to over shoot on cool nights and never reach the set target on hot days! there are so many variables dont give up though the controlers are great and will keep you going for a long time! the best thing to do is every few weeks or oil change or when it feels slugish Reset your ECU and then go out and BEAT THE CRAP out of your car it will relearn correctly.

Cheers.

All right, that all makes sense, thanks.
