I was talking with a friend of mine, who has a mid 90s avalon XL. I did a lil research and his car should put out 192 HP at the crank compared to my 150 crank. His car is bone stock, while my mods are listed below...But will be changing next week. I hate bench racing, but Im just curious if anyone thinks this race will even be close. I dont care who should win, but will it be close. we are waiting for better weather and work schedules to be favorable to do a good run

The Avalon will more than likely have a really bad head gasket leak after the race.

he just had to replace his AT trans because he was doing neutral drops to squeal his tires too. I personally think I will win in a full drag race if Im spraying, but we wont know for a fact until the tracks open.

I've never really done much street racing. A buddy of mine got a ticket for it, that really showed me what happens when you do.

I used to look for races almost every time I was out driving. But lately, I have come to realize, just to wait till the track opens

Never street raced. I can't risk being without my car for even a day at this point.

ive street raced before, but don't anymore, too risky for nothing, since ive gotten into autoX and road racing, straight line is almost boring to me now. Anyway, if you spray, i dont see how he'll keep up with you, how many miles does he have on his avalon, i mean hell his car is 14 yrs old, and from what you post has been run hard. Im not too sure itll make it all the way through the 1/4

There's no way you will lose to that car. They are dogs. HP dont matter when the car weighs much more than yours does. If his is stock, and you are running on the bottle, you have nothing to worry about. Rob, after getting into autox/road racing I have found drag racing to be very boring to me also, so I can identify with you when you say that.

yea, i dunno why, its just not really entertaining anymore, i mean occsasionally, when me and my friends go out to the track, i might run, but im not going to set aside time to do it when i can go autoX

It's too much wear and tear on my clutch. In autox there isn't even a launch, and there's only one shift. My car's unreliable as it is, and drag racing doesn't help it out any.

:werd: i completely hear that, theres all these guys out here with their integras/civics/eclipses with I/E and sure i can run with them and alot of times beat them, but i just dont think drag racing a 15-16sec car is any fun unles you're doing it after mods or sometihng to see if theres a difference in E.T or trap speed

from what he told me, i think his transmission has a bad TC, but he was told by the guy who installed the new one (backyard mechanic) that the transmission itself is bad. Not sure how he knows this since he hasnt even dropped the pan to see if there are any shavings or anything to show any hard part internal failure. I guess a seal or something maybe bad, but he never checked the basics. I dont even know if he did a stator check or end play check on the TC. so they are just gonna do another R&R for the another trans.

the neutral drops were on the first trans. this trans is just bad for some reason, but as i just stated, from my knowledge of AT, I think it may just be a bad TC

my altima has many problems after it's rebuild. Sometimes it takes a few times for them to get it right. Is it under any warranty of some sort? If so, take it back!

Altiman is right here.

Racing an old Alty vs an old Avalon is like participating in the Special Olympics... you know the rest.

Do you have any time slips for it? I'd say you oughta go for some tranyn work next? I loved my rebuilt transmission on my U13. It was alot crisper and dropped off .7s off my 1/4 mile time with just a stock rebuild. It would have been much faster if it had a tc and vb upgrade.

damn, a rebuilt auto transmission taking off .7 from the 1/4 as opposed to a 'non rebuilt' auto, wow. How much would something like this kind of transmission work cost?
